Wild pitch that bounced maybe 20-30 feet toward the Nationals’ bullpen. Catcher tried to flip it to Hellickson, but Bader beat Hellickson to the plate, taking him out at the ankles in the process. As the throw rolled toward the Cardinals dugout, Carpenter went to third.

He doesn’t understand that he’s supposed to call the pitch where the ball crosses the plate, not where Yadi catches it. He’s missed several curveballs that were clearly strikes in the bottom of the zone.
He being the home plate umpire.
