This has nothing to do with tonight's game, but I'll save Artie the trouble of asking the question when the Cardinals return to town next Tuesday and the turf looks like crap.
Yes, there were concerts over the weekend. Journey/Def Leppard tonight and Luke Bryan tomorrow. It's also been raining all morning which undoubtedly makes the field that much more susceptible to damage with a few thousand people walking on it.

I saw Def Leppard and Journey a couple of weeks ago at Fenway. Cheap Trick was the opening act. They were good Def Leppard was great. Journey was awful. All you could hear were the drums. You couldn't even tell which song they were doing until about a minute into it. The acoustics in a 106-year-old ballpark are notoriously bad, but you could hear every lyric Robin Zander and Joe Elliott sang. We left about a half-dozen songs into Journey's set.

And I know who Luke Bryan is. I can't name one of his songs, but a guy who lives down the street is a lighting tech for him. He used to do lighting for Pantera. He met his wife at a Pantera show. He was working for them the night Dimebag Darrell was murdered on stage.
They're interesting people, to say the least.

I'm not sure if it's the bands rehearsing or if it's just the sound crew, but the sound has been going pretty good for about an hour or so.
I'm actually going to tonight's concert, so it'll be interesting to see if your preview holds true. I also know who Luke Bryan is, and I would definitely recognize a few of his songs, but he's a perfect example of the type of country-pop crap that I can't stand.

So your a do country or do pop but dont do both type of guy? I have a personal thing against skinny jeans on guys, let alone a country singer. Ill listen to a few of his songs if they come on the radio. Went and saw him once. Got really drunk. Dont remember a thing. One of those deals.

Yeah, that's a pretty good way to describe it. To me, the only thing that makes Luke Bryan country is the fact that he has a country accent. Someone like Justin Bieber could just as easily sing a Luke Bryan song and probably have a hit with it.
When I think of country music, I tend to think of 3 things: 1) a song that tells a really good story, 2) a song about being a backwoods redneck or 3) a song by a female country singer who is probably really hot. In the case of #3, I don't care if it's country pop.

I dont get to wrapped up in music. It is noise thats on when i drive. Ill listen to about anything and become tired of it after its been released for about a month.

Who's the chick who had country hits with all those songs about bad relationships when she was a teenager? She sold out three nights at Bob Kraft's palace about a month ago. Her name escapes me, but she's skinny with long blonde hair. She's not even country anymore, right? I heard a new song a couple of years ago and it sounded like it could have been done by Madonna or Whitney Houston.

That's probably a sound check. The headliner does two or three songs after everything is set up to hear how they sound, then they go back to the hotel for whatever, in the instance of Journey and/or Def Leppard these days a nap rather than some Dionysian bacchanalia.
I'm not sure how the sound check being handled in this instance because Def Leppard and Journey are alternating the headliner spot every night. Maybe you're right and the road crew played the sound check. Most roadies are like golf caddies - they were good musicians but not good enough to go on tour on their own.

Still at the concert. Def Leppard opened for Journey. They were really good. Journey is fine. It may have been the Fenway acoustics, though it does sound like they’re trying to hide the new guy’s voice a little. He’s fine, but he’s no Steve Perry.

Even moreso when they come against other contenders. At worst a 4 & 2 trip to LA & COL is not bad.
