I had a similar impulse.

Anyone else think Max is Chelsea Manning?

Very wrong.  I suffer enough from those around me who chose to politicize every bowel movement taken by a gorilla at the local zoo.

Sounds like a great time.  The clintons at the zoo.  Chelsea will be using those chompers to naw down carrots with the zebras.  Bill will be taking things a little to far at the petting zoo and hillary will be wandering around wondering why nobody cares what she has to say.

Catholicism is less of an organization and more of a mafia.

That's unfair, AP. The Mafia doesn't solicit child rapists.

Neither do the catholics.  It is more of a cultivation for them.

Re: 2019 Spring Training Thread

Fouler with two homers, and Ozuna with one. Cards lead the Yankees' Double A team, 7-3, after six.

We should send Fouler to AA. Sounds like he'd be successful.

Re: 2019 Spring Training Thread

Apparently Hudson's spring was just too good to be denied but I'm still a little surprised.

I really don't understand the philosophy of carrying Reyes in the pen rather than stretching him out at Memphis.

Looks like they've stashed Gant and Reyes in the 'pen until Wacha gets hurt and Wainwright's ERA clears 8.00.

Reyes really isn't being stretched out for anything.  I'm sure they know exactly how many innings they intend to let him pitch this season, and my guess is that number isn't very high.

Re: 2019 Spring Training Thread

Looks like Shreve has been released and the last bullpen spot will be filled by Brebnia or Webb.

He's with the Reds and was pitching well this spring until he got hurt.
I'm not sure GABP is the best place for him to pitch.

There has never been a more offensive broadcast team than Whiskey Dan and Brad Thompson.

Thom Brennaman and anyone, but especially Jeff Brantley.
But you're point is well-taken. McLaughlin has become a hapless fan boy and Thompson is brutal. His voice is grating, his commentary isn't insightful in any way and he utters too many cliches. Edmonds has actually emerged as the best of the FSMW color guys. And he was dreadful a couple years ago.

Thompson is so horrible.  They have so many other options idk why they would continue with him.

Maybe that is what they are grooming thompson for.  I agree that edmonds was very awkward at first.  Even in the studio he stunk, so did ankiel.  I enjoy edmonds a lot now.  He adds some really good insight.  McCarver also adds some interesting comments vs my opinion of him while doing national games.  I appreciate them pointing out things that are done incorrectly.  The constant homer attitude from thompson and dan mcLaughlin is unlistenable. Acting like everything is great when they clearly are not null and voids any actual point they could make, good or bad.  I hope edmonds position in the front office doesnt censor him.

Cardinals in Memphis vs. the Redbirds tonight. Wacha vs. Wainwright.

Re: 2019 Spring Training Thread

Heard on the radio today that yeaterday’s lineup is what the expect to start the season.

Carpenter
Goldschmidt
DeJong
Ozuna
Molina
Fouler
Wong
Bader

I also heard that the order of appearance for starters will be

Mikolas
Flaherty
Hudson
Wacha
Wainwright

Working backwards, I like the rotation and give Schildt credit for putting Wainwright 5th. Also, I understand it’s been announced that Flaherty gets the home opener. Good for him and deserved.

Not a big fan of the lineup. The only 2 guys with speed are hitting 7th and 8th. And I’m not convinced DeJong is a 3 hitter. Hopefully he surprises me. I think it’s a waste having Goldschmidt hitting 2nd, but I guess that means I’m old.

I can't find a thing in your post to disagree with except your being old.  But you are older than some and the game is really changing in ways that dampen my interest.  It doesn't seem like the players are able to adapt (i.e., shifts) and therefore the game is less and less interesting.

Bob is getting exposed to a typical Memphis Spring.  I hope we don't have a tree come through my roof.

Re: 2019 Spring Training Thread

Id really like to see the pitcher bat 8th.  That would take advantage of wong or baders speed a little more.  Plus if mikolas or waino are on the mound, they can hold their own at the plate.

I just don't know if Martinez can play in the National League. He's the worst defensive outfielder I've seen since Alfonso Soriano, and he's possibly the worst defensive first baseman I've ever seen . And it's not for lack of effort or desire. He seems like a decent human being and he's a good hitter. But they should never let him out of the dugout with a glove on his hand.
