Cardinals sign Snell & Batista to Minor League deals

I always liked Snell, but he's really fallen hard the last couple of years.  I suppose its worth a dumpster dive.  At least they didn't have to offer him guaranteed money.

Those are solid roster filler additions.

I like both of those moves.  they cant be worst then Loshe.

I looked and it has been awhile since Snell was usefull.  Batista wasnt bad last year.  In fact both could be bullpen guys.

So this is likely their last pitching move unless something falls into their laps.  Next up on the to do list was infield depth.  The signing of Lopez/Thurston type infielder is coming.  That is unless Miles is going to come back.

I think that either of these guys could easily be worse than Lohse.  But they'e insurance; what's the chance that all three suck?  The problem is that we'll have to decide before spring training is over.

Why are they not still in the market for a second lefty in the bullpen?  I would rate a utility left-side infielder above the second lefty in the pen, but I hope they are still thinking about both.

Not necessarily.  Batista can ask for his release if he doesn't make the team coming out of Spring Training, but Snell can't opt out until June 1.

Will Ohman just signed a 2 year 5 million deal with the White Sox's.  I think that is over payment.
