I assume waino will throw game one. Mikolas game two. And Flaherty game three. Probably hudson game four.

I thought the same thing. This really works out for the Cardinals because Wainwright and Mikolas are much better pitchers at home. It doesn't really matter where Flaherty pitches at this point. And you have him on regular rest for Game 7 if you need him.

I assume it will be Wainwright v. Scherzer. If so, Scherzer will be on short rest, but both Strasburg and Corbin pitched last night, so I assume they're unavailable. And I doubt they want to open the series with Anibel Sanchez.
I know desperate times call for desperate measures, but the Nationals use of Scherzer, Corbin and Strasburg has been a bit insane.

Game one and game 5 for Flaherty would of been best. I agree with shildt in sticking with him last night tho. Go with the sure thing.

Yeah i thought they fired dusty baker.
Their usage tells you how the team feels about the rest of their staff.

The Nashnils' bullpen has been awful. Doolittle carried them for the first half of the season, but he got burned out and his ERA in the second half has been above 5.00. Hudson has been very good since they acquired him, but the problem has been getting from the starter to the back end.

Shildt is getting some heat for leaving him out there as long as he did. I'm not sure I would have sent Flaherty out for the sixth, but what the manager was supposed to do? Have him pitch to the requisite one batter in the bottom of the first and then take him out for Mikolas or someone else who hasn't prepared to come into the game? What if the Braves score five runs in that scenario? Now you've burned you're best starter and your long reliever.
There's a baseball graveyard filled with bodies of guys who planned the next step before they finished climbing the step they were on.

I completely agree. You have to make sure you secure the game. And once he has thrown 4 or 5 innings, what are you really saving. He still is going to require regular rest.

Mikolas starting Game 1, then Wainwright in Game 2.
I guess they didn't want Wainwright to have to start a game on the road.

Sanchez v. Mikolas

These are the things my mind wanders to:
During the post-game interview with Flaherty, he was asked if he was going to watch the Nashnils/Dodgers game, and he said no.
So the Cardinals have their champagne shower, and then what do they do? They don't know if their flight is headed to St. Louis or L.A., and I would imagine the FAA would require a flight plan before they take off, so they just can't jump on the plane and start heading west.
Do they stay at Sun Trust Field, where everyone but Flats watches the Dodgers/Nashnils game? Do they sit on the plane on the tarmac at Hartsfield or wherever, waiting for the other game to end? Do they sit in the terminal? It would be kind of a hoot to see the St. Louis Cardinals at Buffalo Wild Wings or wherever at the airport.

So, presumably, Flaherty starts Game 3, Hudson starts Game 4, Mikolas starts Game 5, Waino goes in Game 6 and Flats starts Game 7, with Hudson available out of the bullpen?
That's a pretty good plan.

I suspect they probably boarded a plane and flew home. Worst case, St. Louis is on the way from Atlanta to LA.

If i was Flaherty id probably plan on drinking beers and banging bitches.
Also his mom is a milf. I want to lick her fart box. Tbs gave her lots of air time.

Mikolas is throwing one of those games that may be defined by just a few pitches.

"I want to lick her fart box."
Now there's an expression with which I was previously not familiar.
