Lots I want to say, but many regulars have been so quiet I assume I must smell bad, or something. Where the hell are D'Artie, TK, and Mags? Let alone the ten or so others who occasionally drop by?

It is that time of year. Nothing going on but college BB and only one football game left.

Agreed.
Bernie summed up my position on the Pujols contract pretty darn well.
"I don't know about you, but I'm already fatigued by the Albert Pujols contract negotiations. Whether it's the Cardinals or another team, Pujols will be paid a remarkable sum of money. And whether he signs Pujols or not, Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. will remain fabulously wealthy. There are a lot of things out there worth worrying about. The fate of two rich men doesn't make my short list."

I am not worried about DeWitt's or Pujols' future but I am worried about mine as a Cardinal fan. Not that Pujols leaving would make me not a Cardinal fan. I am sick of hearing about the contract though. Either get it done or publicly say it isnt happening. As with the Holliday deal I am just sick of hearing about it.

frankly, i thought you were going to comment on how closely the scuttlebutt is to the debate you and i were having. i read one line of reasoning that the cards should offer $28 million per year (with one thought being that anything other than 8 is a lost cause at this point), and another line of reasoning being that the offer should have an AAV of $30 million, and the action is in determining how many years. i almost choked when i saw one discussion actually using the suggestion of top 10 in MVP voting to trigger an option. good thing my predictions last season mostly went bust, and my 2009-pineiro-fatigued arm has had a good rest, because i am getting ready to start some serious self-back-patting about how well my predictions have gone thus far.
