in light of TK's successful efforts to drag us all into a FF league, is someone interested in running an NCAA BB pool?
Offline
Sure. I can set it up through Yahoo, but probably not until tomorrow.

I'm in.

I am always in. Most years there are not many around here that want to give it a shot. I have followed college basketball very little this year.

link?
here's another thought--not for this year--but i was thinking that, analogous to a those crossword puzzles that do not have the empty squares shaded black, a very challenging way to play would be to guess all the brackets before the NCAA has assigned the teams to go in them.

I think you need to post a group ID number

what about fantasy baseball?
Offline
We talked about it last year and I remember a couple people saying they were too busy to be checking on something like that every day.

I would be in if this group would do it. I think TK brought up an NL only league. I like that idea for a smaller group of people. If this board doesnt come up with a league I doubt I play this year because of the time it takes. Plus I doubt I follow baseball as close as I have in years passed. I am convinced that the Cardinals are going to suck straight out of the gate.

much too busy. it's not quite final, but i will likely spend much of the next 6-7 months traveling.

Can we get a role call on who is interested in fantasy baseball? I would be interested even if it was just a 5 team NL only league.
Offline
I'd do an NL only league. I don't really watch the AL anyway, except during the Interleague phase of the schedule.

That is two people. We need to get rolling on this if it is going to happen. Opening day will be here soon.

I think you're OK. The deadline appears to be Thursday. The play-in games are a kind of 2-for-1 deal, if you're brave enough to pick UT-San Antonio or Alabama State to knock off Ohio State.

A caveat to everyone before they check the standings on Monday morning and laugh at my barely-.500 record:
I've watched four college basketball games in their entirety this season - three involving Arizona State, which finished 10th in its conference only because there are just 10 teams in it, and a Syracuse-Pitt game only because a 'Cuse alum who had to baby-sit his toddler that night offered to buy me beer if I went to his house and watched with him.

i went to the link and saw no way to join anything. so i made a bracket, and still can't figure out who to submit it.
fwiw, i don't think i've seen any college games for the past several years, so i'm guessing you trounce my picks, based on what these teams did back in the 90's. i almost picked gonzaga, but they were seeded 11, not 10 . . . . so i passed.

nevermind, i'm in. i like being last in these guy sports things. losing gives my testosterone factory a break from it's normal schedule of double-overtime.

My strategy is pretty simple. I always pick Kansas to go deep in the tournament. That way if they win, I get some consolation. Usually they lose by the second round and even though it blows my bracket I keep laughing for a week.

I'm the same way with Dook. I think I've posted this before, but the woman who lives across the street is a Dookie. Not long afer we moved in, she's out in her dumbass Dookie Bloo Devil sweatshirt raking leaves. We introduce ourselves and I ask "Did you go to Dook?" Her (enthusiastically): "Yes!!" Me: "That's OK. Maybe we'll get along anyway."
I've been eyed with a great deal of suspicion ever since ...

I picked big ten teams to do well even though they likely will not.

i always do that, only to have them betray me. this year i picked them all to die. mine was an 'all guess and no sentiment' bracket this year.

First day thoughts:
Kentucky AND Louisville going out on the same day in the first round would have been great.
Connecticut's run in the Big East tournament wasn't a fluke.
I can't make up my mind from one game, but Jimmer Fredette looked more Great White Hype than Great White Hope tonight. 32 points is a lot, but 2-for-9 from beyond the arc? Please.
A black guy in a BYU uni just looks weird.
The guy in my office pool who picked Belmont to make the Final Four is fucked.
Does Wisconsin have to run the shot clock under 5 seconds on every possession?
Every team should have to learn the Princeton offense. They don't necessarily have to use it in a game, but they should at least be made to practice it.
I picked Penn State to make it to the last eight because they had played well in the Big 10 tourney, and now I'm going to have to pay for using logic.
