mlb.com on best outfield arms doesn't mention ankiel

it took fan comments to point out that, rather than be forgotten, he should listed near the top.

Re: mlb.com on best outfield arms doesn't mention ankiel

I hope for McDowell's sake he is an alcoholic and was roaring drunk at the time.  Otherwise, it sounds like baseball would be better off without him:

The altercation at AT&T Park in San Francisco took place last Saturday during pregame batting practice. Justin Quinn was in the stands with his wife and 9-year-old twin daughters when he noticed McDowell hectoring three men and asking them, “Are you guys a homo couple or a threesome?â€

After the coach made crude sexual gestures with his hips and a bat, Quinn said he shouted, “Hey there are kids out here.† According to Quinn, McDowell said kids don’t belong at a baseball park, picked up a bat, walked up to Quinn and asked him, “How much are your teeth worth?â€

Quinn said he felt threatened and was unsure whether McDowell intended to hit him.

“My kids are in panic mode … they’re like grabbing onto me,† Quinn said Wednesday during a news conference at the office of prominent Los Angeles attorney Gloria Allred. “I’m talking to him, trying to calm him down and the kids are screaming.â€

Some parents who were in the stands with their children began to boo at McDowell and came down to retrieve their kids. Quinn said that eventually McDowell walked away.

“I am deeply sorry that I responded to the heckling fans in San Francisco,† McDowell said in a statement, his only public comment on the matter. “I apologize to everyone for my actions.â€

The only thing I can think of is Ankiel may not have played in enough games to qualify for that metric.
Going by my lyin' eyes, the top arms are, in no particular order, Ankiel, Ichiro and Franceour.

speakin' of which, i'm a gonna have to get out to the ballpark and watch ichiro while i have the chance.  without looking, albert and ichiro have to be the all-time greatest rookie tandem, with no one else a close second.  i get a 2 week break in early july.

Plenty of good seats available. It always bothered me a little bit that Ichiro was considered a rookie after spending a half-dozen years in Japan's top league. If Pujols signs with the Mariners next season, shouldn't he be eligible for AL Rookie of the Year, too?

which is more demanding, japan or AAA?  a guy can spend his life in tripleA and still be a rookie.
