    Ground ball would have been better. This one isn't on Franklin. Even Conrad's hit was a broken bat blooper.

    I missed today's game and it sounds like it was a good thing.

    Looking at the box score begs two obvious questons:

    - why was Pujols playing 3rd?

    - why was Franklin pitching the 8th/9th of a tie ballgame?

    Hamilton pinch-hit in the 8th and they were out of infielders.
    They're easing Franklin back into the closer's role by having him face Jones, McCann and Uggla.

    A month ago, I'd have said "hello Matt Carpenter," but I think he's been struggling at Memphis. I wonder if Craig is close to returning.

    Pujols was not looking great at first much less at the bat (depressed)  Theriot looked crappy  (embarrassed)  Franklin painted the corner a couple of times but they were ruled a ball.  Bad defense ended up losing the game   Not surprised to hear Freese has a broken hand after the sound when he was hit!!!

    Not a good baseball day   I also watched a third terrible outing for Ubaldo Jimenez.  How can a pitcher go from an outstanding year to terrible that fast?
