Mom who jabs 8-year-old daughter with Botox under investigation
By Julia Sommerfeld
Back in March, TODAY Moms told you about the beautician mom who injects her 8-year-old daughter with Botox. Kerry Campbell, 34, claims the wrinkle injections she jabs into little Britney's smile lines are no big deal on the kiddie beauty pageant circuit:
What I am doing for Britney now will help her become a star. I know one day she will be a model, actress or singer, and having these treatments now will ensure she stays looking younger and baby-faced for longer.
Kerry Campbell says she gets the shots from a secret “trusted†source.
Our readers were horrified -- and spitting mad. You called it insanity, child abuse – and called for the mom to be arrested.
Finally, the authorities have caught on.
Since our story, Kerry and Britney have done a little media circuit. San Francisco’s Human Services Agency received numerous calls from people worried about Britney’s safety and is now investigating. City health official Trent Roher says he'll sit down and talk with the mom and daughter, the Associated Press reports.
As we pointed out, it’s not even legal for a beautician to administer Botox. And this is poison we are talking about being injected into a child’s face. Also, who looks at their 8-year-old's cherubic face and sees wrinkles?
We just hope somebody injects some sense into this mom. What do you think should happen?
