Phillies lineup isn't available yet, but here's the Cardinals' half
1. Ryan Theriot, SS
2. Jon Jay, CF
3. Albert Pujols, 1B
4. Matt Holliday, LF
5. Lance Berkman, RF
6. Allen Craig, 2B
7. Yadier Molina, C
8. Daniel Descalso, 3B
9. Jaime Garcia, LHP
Still no Corby, Craig back at 2B.

You beat me to it.

let's see what jay can do batting second. i am a bit concerned that his high obp will be shown to be a fluke, and with pitchers focused on getting him out he will strike out a lot. i hope that concern is unwarranted.

Jay batted second last night. He batted eighth on Sunday, most likely because the Reds started a lefty. To me, it makes more sense to bat him leadoff, but if La Russa is only going to give the steal sign to Pujols and Molina, I guess it doesn't really make much of a difference where he puts speed in the lineup.

Player SB-CS
Greene 5-0
Theriot 4-0
Pujols 3-0
Craig 3-0
Raz 3-1
Scal 1-0
Punto 1-0
Holliday 0-1
Jay 0-1
Skip Scott 0-1
Laird 0-1 (huh? hope it was on a hit-and-run ...)
Berkman 0-2
Molina 1-2
21-9
BTW, I'd guess Jacoby Ellsbury is a faster white guy than Greene, TK.

He doesn't count. He's a Native American.

my perception of jay is that he is one of those rare baseball outfielders who has neither speed nor power--like schumaker. jay at leadoff, or as #2 works for me if he is batting .300 with an OBP of .400. it works particularly well at #2 if he is the archetypal hitter in that role: never K's and is willing to bunt. not sure what his K rate is, but his swing looks like its full of holes, and if pitchers decide they do not want to let him on base in front of pujols-holliday-berkman, then he is likely to see a whole new level of determination to strike him out, as opposed to when he is batting in front of the pitcher. just a thought.

FYI: without wanting to offend anyone, native americans from america tend to be genetically more white--or even filipino these days--than native american. if i am not mistaken, the benchmark for inclusion as native american is ridiculously low, something like 1/16. and who's to say that great-great grand parent was 100% native american?

Craig at second when Garcia is on the mound might be becoming a new trend.

Wow! Who else on the Cards, besides Descalso, gets to that ball at third and then fires to first for the out?

Kind of sad that you had to start an otherwise innocent observation with a qualifier. People need to quit being so sensitive.

Hey look. An extra base hit for Pujols.

Really? That would make me Native American. My aunt did one of those geneology searches a few years ago and I guess my great-great grandfather was a Quebecois who got a little frisky with one of the locals one night.
So who do I see for reparations?

Fourth double of the season. He usually had four doubles after the first week.

Now that Max has advised me I'm Native American, I'm incredibly offended.

That would explain your deep affection for Les Habitants.

He stole 33 bases in two years at Miami, and 20 in his only full season in Memphis in 2009.

Fuck. Nice play by Polanco.

I don't know who the Phillies' play-by-play announcer is, but he just said Berkman shaved his beard this year because LaRussa doesn't like facial hair. Geez-us. I can think of at least four guys on the Cardinals' pitching staff, including the guy this boob has watched pitch the first six innings tonight, who have beards.

That is typical Tyler Greene. Jesus.

Un-fucking-believable

It wouldn't be a Cardinals game without a fielding boner from Theriot or Greene. Where the fuck is Punto anyway?
Offline
Good thing they put him in for defensive purposes.

I'm still stunned. That just can't happen in the major leagues. Ever.
