What do you call it when it happens twice in a span of two weeks?

You call it "Time to get a new middle infield." Theriot's chance was a little tougher than that. Not much, but a little. I would have been annoyed at one of my little leaguers if he had dropped the ball Greene kicked.

I don't know who the Phillies' play-by-play announcer is, but he just said Berkman shaved his beard this year because LaRussa doesn't like facial hair. Geez-us. I can think of at least four guys on the Cardinals' pitching staff, including the guy this boob has watched pitch the first six innings tonight, who have beards.

Westbrook has a beard and I dont think Berkman has had a beard much throughout his career.

Kind of sad that you had to start an otherwise innocent observation with a qualifier. People need to quit being so sensitive.

are you joking?  is this like tk, goading me with some out of the blue comment about who i will blame for ramsus's injury?

i haven't the slightest idea what your comment means.

"Westbrook has a beard"

It must be an optical illusion. LaRussa's too much of a hard ass about stuff like that.

He stole 33 bases in two years at Miami, and 20 in his only full season in Memphis in 2009.

in Miami?  Ooooo!  impressive

apparently major league catchers are unimpressed by that, however, since he has exactly 2 SB and 5 CS in 145 games as a major leaguer.

He's giving me a hard time. He doesn't think I'm due reparations.

Miami has a pretty good baseball program, Max.

Re: 5/17 Gamecrap

I don't want to spark another endless debate, but Jay has looked really good tracking fly balls tonight. At least in the part of the game I've seen.

No. This wasn't a shot at you. All I was saying is that you were making a simple statement which I assume is accurate. But because people (not necessarily anyone on this board, society in general) have become so sensitive, you, probably out of habit, felt it necessary to start by saying you didn't intend to offend anyone.

I just think it's a shame we always have to be so worried about stepping on people's toes that you can't make a simple statement. That's all.

Re: 5/17 Gamecrap

mlb.com came and went and never came back.  didn't see squat after the early innings.

now bottom of the 9th, three singles and no runs.   (furious)

Jay's single was hit too hard for Theriot to go to third. Pujols hit a flare that wasn't obviously going to drop.

Re: 5/17 Gamecrap

"three singles and no runs"

Theriot could have read Pujols' blooper a little better.
Doesn't matter now, though ...

Re: 5/17 Gamecrap

It's pretty easy to tweak max these days. I'm gonna stop until he is not under so much stress.

Berkman wins it.

I didnt know if it was going to be caught or not so I expect he didnt either.  I rather him error on the side of cation then get doubled off.

I knew Berkman would win it.  The guy has been great this year.  He is even making lefties pay.

years ago i swept floors at a cabinet shop for a living.  it was my responsibility to answer the phone when it rang.  there was a period of a few months when, almost everyday during our break, the phone would ring, i'd have to get up, walk out of the break room, through the shop, into the office, and the person would hang up.  months later i found from another guy, even more junior than me,  that this young jackass of a journeyman (who was fired after just a few months on the job) put his wife up to calling and hanging up during break, let the rest of the cabinetshop in on the joke, and would guffaw about it as soon as i was out of the office.

jackasses like that don't get very far in life.

I'd make Tyler Greene collect the jocks and clean the clubhouse toilets tonight.

Yeah, with no outs and your cleanup hitter coming up, caution prevails there. I was watching the second baseman and he didn't have a chance.

I'm sure there's a little part of Garcia that feels that way, too.

Garcia should be allowed to "Janey Cueto" Greene in the nuts.

Garcia could be 9-0. He's recovered nicely from that hiccup in Atlanta.

ah, i get it.  ever work around (for?) native americans?  telling them that, genetically, many of them are not much from Artie, or from Filipinos (depending on the person/tribe), might rub some of them the wrong way--particularly since there is the assumption that the backcrosses were pretty much one-way, white guy with native chick.  so, with all of the lingering negativity about killing their ancestors and taking their land, it's a tolerable compromise, IMO, to start off with a little disclaimer.
