Re: 5/20 Gamecrap

I hate playing these guys.  For one it bores me.  Secondly they seem to beat us more then they should.

Re: 5/20 Gamecrap

Which would be a better regional rival, KC or the White Sox?

I think the proximity of Wrigley and Comiskey/Cellular make the CUbs and White Sox automatic 'regional rivals" and that leaves us KC by default.  It's not like KC is all that much closer than is Chicago.

Re: 5/20 Gamecrap

Just a reminder that though the Cardinals will have more fans in the stands, they are the away team and will be batting first.

A better rival would be any NL team.

Re: 5/20 Gamecrap

Why is this team not hitting Jeff Francis?

Re: 5/20 Gamecrap

Rasmus has to make that catch.
And why won't Miller throw strikes anymore?

Salad-tossing lefty. His curve is coming in at 66 mph.

Re: 5/20 Gamecrap

The strike zone is the size of Wisconsin tonight, too. Consistent for both teams, but big.

How about a bomb here, Holliday?

Re: 5/20 Gamecrap

After Escobar made that play on Kozma's deflected ground ball, the Royals' announcers started pimping him for a Gold Glove. I think it's about the eighth time already this season I've heard another team's shortstop is clearly the best defensive shortstop in the league.

Those are my thoughts.  Miller is almost a left handed Franklin at this point.

I know that they are investing in Rasmus but Jay is the best outfielder on the team.  Normally the best outfield plays center.  Rasmus just cant take charge out there.

He got screwed.  How can you know what to swing at whena ball 6 inchs off the plate is called a strike?

After watching Jay run down everything while Korby was out, I tend to agree with you. I have no idea how Rasmus doesn't read that ball correctly - contact like that off the bat of a left-handed batter will always tail toward left-center. And then he sort of let up again at the end, just like he did in San Francisco. Van Slyke's criticism wasn't entirely valid because Rasmus doesn't seem to worry about fences. He seems more concerned by about getting wiped out by one of his corner outfielders. I know he blew out his knee when he was in the minors. Does anyone know if that happened on a collision in the outfield?

Re: 5/20 Gamecrap

He made nice plays on some balls that were hit sharply to him.  He got to them under control and seemed to read them well.  Like you said he seems worried about the LF and RF.  He is the boss out there and he needs to understand that.  He can override every player on he field as far as making the catch.  It doesnt matter if it is Holliday and his 17 million dollar check or Berkman and his hall of fame career.  They expect him to take charge.  Tonight it was Craig who I dont believe is the defensive liablity they make him out to be.  Still it is Rasmus' ball.

Jay made a hell of a play on the Doubleplay.

Does the expression 'salad-tossing lefty' mean nothing to you?

has any commented yet on his power outage?  not as dramatic as is pujols's, but still his power numbers have dipped.  he is on pace to have his lowest HR total since 2005.  his HR peaked at the age of 27 (sounds a bit young to me).  not sure if the switch from mile high denver to muggy st. louis is implicated, but he is not a major long ball threat these days, as awesome as his bat has been.  he's basically a single and double guy these days.

What?  and have Rasmus run to Uncle Mozzie's office and cry crocodile tears because it will jeopardize his coveted Rookie of the Year award???  Who would want to be on the business end of that hissy fit?

Big power outage across the Cards batting order.  The starters are failing.  And the bullpen is on life support.  Force LaRussa and Duncan into retirement, fire Moz, and let mlb take over day-to-day running of the team and force dewitt to sell.

And Oquendo is a too damn aggressive third base coach.

Otherwise, well done, sir.
