Skip Schumaker (triceps) is expected to rejoin the Cardinals on their current road trip.
Schumaker is currently taking at-bats in games at extended spring training. He's been on the disabled list since mid-April with a right biceps strain and should be back in the St. Louis starting lineup later this week.
It's hard for me to get upset at this now since Punto is down and Greene is awful.

Pete Kozma, we hardly knew ye ...
Is it me, or does a month on the DL with a "strain" seem Drew-esque? I wonder if there's something more going on.

I doubt it. I don't even think that's right since I recall the injury being a hyper-extended elbow.
Regardless, there was a problem with his throwing arm, and since he sucks enough at defense and was hitting .240, I doubt they saw any reason to have him push through.

Boggs is apparently going to get optioned to Memphis to make room for Schumaker.
Franklin just needs to pitch!

You are fucking kidding me. If anyone needs to pitch it is Boggs.

It's been done. Schumaker is in the lineup tonight and batting seventh.
I give it three seconds for Al to talk about what an impact Schumaker will have.

I wish this board let me move topics. This should be in the "stupidest shit I ever heard" thread.

The only rationale for this is Boggs still has options, and it still doesn't make any sense.

I think Boggs era is around 3.5

For whatever reason, they're sending him back to the rotation. That's the dumbest idea. Boggs has failed as a starter.

I would say you are lieing but that is so dumb I dont think you would make it up. He wasnt usefull as a starter at all. He has been very usefull out of the pen. The only thing I think would make this move reasonable is if they think Carp is hiding an injury. His last outing was effective so I wouldnt think that would be the case.

I don't want to sound like a broken record, but Albert crushed that ball and it just barely left the yard.

I had the exact same thought. I was hoping he might have got it off the end of the bat. I thought that thing was headed to the second or third deck. It didn't make it to the second row.

I don't think that's necessarily an indication of what they want him to do up here. As a starter he gets more innings and a chance to throw all of his pitches.

Why is LaRussa on the phone?!? He better be ordering a friggin' pizza.

I don't think it's an Albert thing, Fors. He's made solid contact all three times tonight.
More runs, please. If this comes down to a battle of the bullpens, the Cardinals are badly overmatched.

Maybe they are looking to move him back into the long man role that he has held before.

Since this thread was originally about roster moves, anyone else think that's today's decision to recall Tony Cruz is the final nail in Bryan Anderson's coffin?
Tk, you probably know better than anyone--did Anderson reportedly have trade value at some point? If so, they completely screwed the pooch by not moving him.

Yes, he did. His peak value was probably in 2008. The surprising thing is that they had talked about moving him off catcher a while back but never did.

Second base was the hot topic if I remember right.

If anyone else acts like that, he gets tossed. Pujols owes Jim Joyce dinner.

"Step into my office, Mitch. Me and the boys in the front office wanted to give you a little lesson about loyalty. Loyalty with a capital L. That's the Cardinal way."
[Ninja's pop out of the dark corners of Moz's office, saran wrap Boggs, insert a sedative into his anus, and stuff him into a box loaded onto a Memphis bound bus with a note taped to his forehead, "Franklin needs to pitch."]

Interesting to hear "Baghdad Al" criticize this move during the postgame show. He said what we've been saying--Franklin needed to come up with an "injury."
