5/24 Gamecrap

K-Mac vs. Aaron Harang

Here's your Stat of the Day: the Cardinals are first in walks and have the fewest strikeouts in the NL. I'd be curious how many teams have held that distinction.

If it has, I'd guess one of DiMaggio's teams. But that's all it is, a wild guess.

Is that their offense or their pitching staff?

Good for La Russa to have the stones to sit Molina.

Re: 5/24 Gamecrap

Brennaman's mentally-retarded son is all over PhillieFan for leaving the ballpark after Bruce's bases-loaded double in the top of the ninth. It takes a lot of guts to call out people who can't hear you, especially when the Phillies draw 40K every night and the Reds draw half that.
Milwaukee is trailing, 6-3, but it's hardly a comfortable lead with Livan Hernandez starting every hitter with a 2-0 count. Braun got tossed for I don't know what because I was watching Phillies/Reds at the time.

Re: 5/24 Gamecrap

How lousy a pitch do you have to throw for Hawpe to hit it out?

Enberg just said this is the first time the Padres have had a lead since Thursday.

Re: 5/24 Gamecrap

band width issues.  bad connection with mlb.com.  as the wheel spins and tries to load, all i can see is a still image with the ball as a streaking blur over Jay's head.  i'm guessing that was bad news.

Yes, Brad Hawpe just drilled a ball about 405 feet to dead center.

Apparently after the Reds swept the Cardinals, a bunch of the Reds fans took to Twitter and were giving Miklasz, Strauss, Goold and others a hard time.

Lately Miklasz has been pointing out Reds attendance when the crowds are smaller than his number of Twitter followers.

Re: 5/24 Gamecrap

Lohse did the "hidden ball" trick with the ball from Cruz's first major league hit. These kids who get called up have to know about it by now.

Brilliant. I'm sure the writers were deeply offended.

so, that weakness in the middle infield defense must look pretty glaring just about now.

Re: 5/24 Gamecrap

Except for the homer, has McClellan given up a loud foul?

i'm glad that lohse's performance on the field gives him the cache to get away with his off the field antics, which i have enjoyed.  but i recall this past year some grousing from fans when lohse spoke out on some public issue/controversy--i forget what it was about--carp?  i tried to defend it, saying it showed leadership, to which others guffawed and said he had no business trying to show any leadership they way he played.

what the hell was it that he spoke out about?
