Does that refer to the lineup, the result, or both?

Re: 6/26 Gamecrap

Ouch.

As a rule, never send McClellan out for the 6th inning.

So, anyhoo . . .

In other baseball news, it seems JD Drew was medevac-ed in the first inning for a bruised eye.  Major news outlets are expecting a statement from the surgeon general shortly.

Pitchers unwilling to throw strikes early in the count, hitters trying to hit 3-run homers with no one on base, and abysmal defense.
In the Cardinals' defense, Romero is dealing today.

Poor James McDonald had the temerity to pitch inside to Dustin Pedrioa for much of the afternoon. It's too bad TTTIB isn't playing Boston this season. If Brandon Phillips thinks the Cardinals are whiny bitches, I'd hate to think what he'd say about the Red Sox.

well, in this case he claims he fouled a ball off it during BP.  struck out in the first inning and had himself removed.

They're trying mightily to change that, and are likely (IMO) to succeed.  Somewhere, some dictionary probably already includes it.

McClellan's such a stand-up guy that I can't be angry at his suckiness.

It is hard to blame him when the offense didnt plate a single run.  The Cardinals have been shutout 4 times this month.

I'm not angry at anyone in particular, and McClellan didn't pitch all that badly. I have no stastistical background on this, but I'd wager there's an obscene difference between McClellan's BAA when he throws a first pitch strike than when he doesn't.
BTW, if this is a glimpse of what the Cardinals will look like next season without Albert Pujols, it's not very encouraging, is it?

Look, I'm willing to meet these people halfway with "cheesey." But there's no way in hell I'm just going to let them use a term like "melty cheese." "Melt" cannot be converted into an adjective unless it's "melted." I don't care if some silly on-line dictionary contradicts me or not.

Re: 6/26 Gamecrap

Molina is hittig .250 for this month after starting really strong the first two months (.289 april, .330 may).  In April he missed 7 starts.  In May 4 and this month 4 so far.  It is someting, if I were managing I would keep an eye on.  I know it is hard to limit his playing time with all the injuries but it wont help to wear him out either.

getting freeze back could be big.  with holliday, berkman, and freeze there is a chance we become an offensive threat again.

btw: agree completely with molina, ap.  find ways to sit him.  start westbrook and cruz and sit Berkman every fifth day and plan to lose.

Re: 6/26 Gamecrap

"getting freeze back could be big."

Max, I don't understand how you rip Rasmus on one hand and then write that Freese's return could be big with the other. Maybe you've been listening to the Cardinals' broadcasters too much. They make Freese out to be this mythic second coming of Mike Schmidt.
Freese has played 95 out of a possible 251 games in the last two seasons. He's hit six homers has an OPS of under. 800. His defense is adequate, but Descalso is probably just as good if not better with the glove. I can't say for sure, because I vaguely remember the Cardinals even have a player named David Freese.
There's something to be said about being on the field. Rasmus, even with his myriad shortcomings both personally and as a baseball player, is at least available every time the team needs him. Freese is either on the DL or on a rehab assignment or drunk.

Re: 6/26 Gamecrap

OK, Artie, a healthy and sober Freese could be big.
