"The Cardinals continue to press their search for two pitchers before the July 31 nonwaiver trade deadline. The club is scouting the Colorado Rockies, Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres, among others. Though the Cardinals have shown interest in Rockies ace Ubaldo Jimenez, he is believed to be a primary target of the New York Yankees. ... Once inclined to peruse the market for depth at shortstop, the Cardinals are now committing all resources to a pitching upgrade, according to a club source."
