Yahoo has Punto playing short and batting leadoff and playing second and batting eighth. It's a warm day here in the East. He's going to get tired.

Theriot serving susp. today ; move Punto to leadoff and DD in the 8 spot.

I suppose that makes more sense than going with three infielders.

Well, that's a good way to start ...

That's 9:10 in PDT.

Hernandez has the day off and they have some babbler in his place who just said that Berkman gets no recognition for his hitting. Then there was some comment about how he played in the shadow of Bagwell and Biggio. Hernandez is not my favorite part of the team, that would be Cohen and Darling, but whoever this is deserves a one-way ticket to Boca Raton.

yesterday the cards gave mcclellan a 4 run lead and we screwed it up.

FWIW, I think it might be Kiner. He was just reminiscing about Ruth.

Dang, now THIS looks like the Amazin' Mets.

I haven't been able to watch the game, but it appears that the Mets are pounding the ball into the ground and the Cardinals are fielding it. Holy crap, the mystery has been solved!

Oh, it's much more than that, TK. This infield is turning routine double plays!!!
DP 2 (D Descalso-N Punto-A Pujols, D Descalso-N Punto-A Pujols).

To Pagan: That's using your head.

I can't wait to see that highlight.

Kiner usually can't remember what he ate for lunch.

Don't include me in any of that nonsense that went on last night. All I did was watch.

Well, as nice as it was to see the Cards looking something other than incompetent, the story of this 6-2 game was the Mets, at last, playing like the Mets, and letting the Cards score 3 runs in a 6 out fifth inning.

I was listening to the radio in the car. I can't believe Wayne Hagin still has a job. Never have so many words been used to say so little.

I think Westbrook deserves at least a little credit. When he's willing to throw strikes, he's about as efficient as a pitcher can get.

Hey, the man saved a double, maybe a triple. Looks like it might have cost him a pair of designer sunglasses, but that's a small price to pay.

We looked competent. Even so it would have been a 2-2 game going into the 9th had it not been for an inning of Amazing proportions.
- Y. Molina grounded out to second
- D. Descalso doubled to shallow right
- J. Westbrook walked (walked the pitcher, oops)
- N. Punto safe at first on first baseman L. Duda's throwing error, D. Descalso scored, J. Westbrook to second (Duda hit Westbrook with the throw to second, with the ball sailing into shallow center)
- J. Jay singled to shortstop, J. Westbrook scored, N. Punto to third, N. Punto scored, J. Jay to second on center fielder A. Pagan's fielding error (Jay got a lucky bounce, which actually hit second base, Pagan then had a "brain freeze" as Cohen said, and threw behind Jay in the direction of Cards' first base coach McKay to an unguarded first base)
- A. Pujols flied out to center
- M. Holliday struck out swinging

Did he flip his glove, thump his chest and hollar into the dugout afterward?

No, but did you see Pujols's reaction his home run in the first inning?
I'm not saying that the other teams we face don't do some self-admiration. I'm saying that if we are not to be hypocrites, we should be aware when our team does it. Heck I wouldn't object to the old fashioned fines for not doing the basics, and one of those is not admiring yourself.

I waited until I got a chance to check out the video before I responded. Pujols walks down the line two steps, chucks the bat away and then breaks into his trot. He doesn't pound his chest or point toward the dugout, like Pagan did. But I suppose that's the difference between a guy with 400 career homers and a guy with 30.
