"LaRussa would have gone bananas if he had heard Schroeder saying things like "the Cardinals think they're the guardians of the game," and repeatedly calling Motte "bush league" (which Schroeder ought to know about, since he spent so much time shuttling back between the majors and the minors), conveniently leaving out the part that Saito nearly ended Pujols with a pitch up around his head."
I assume you had the Milwaukee feed when Molina was tossed. Those idiots acted like the pitch was a strike. Not excusing Molina's actions--no justification for going bat-shit nuts--but that pitch wasn't very close. The home plate umpire had a terrible night calling balls and strikes, and that pitch was one of several he missed, and missed badly.

Ooh... see I feel bad now, I thought it was a close pitch, even on the inside corner. I just assumed Molina went batshit because we weren't getting that corner.

I saw the SportsCenter highlight of the game. I see it from the Cardinals angle and dont think SportsCenter put the blame on the Cardinals. TLR did make the mistake of call the Brewers fan idiots and then corrected himself. He was pissed but trying to look at the situation objectively I think he made valid points. Of course it is hard to say I can honestly be objective. One thing is for sure and that is the Tony has his players backs.
I assume that this ump was the same one that missed Skip's call at first on the DP the other night? I think Artie mentioned that he has cost the Cards several runs this series. I wish Molina would have pointed that out in his post-game interview. Either way Molina over reacted. However I am sure when a ump is sucking during a series the players talk about it and anger builds.

Must be the cocked camera angle, the strike-zone grid shows it way inside, but the visual looks right on the inside corner. Can we please figure out a way to get a straight on camera angle for seeing pitches =(

I guess the Brewers are all fired up because LaRussa complained about the lights at Miller Park.
I read that. I believe he accused them of dimming a scoreboard in the outfield while the Cardinals were at bat and said that the Brewers have heard it before. I wonder how much of that stuff goes on throughout the league. I would think stealing signs would be easy to do with all the high tec stuff out there. I know that stuff isnt allowed in the dugout but there are ways to get around that.

"Anyway, at least one guy on the Milwaukee side got it: Fielder.
"We got the point," he told reporters after the game. "We hit Albert. They hit Braunie. Cool. Move on.""

They were pretty bloodthirsty. Later in the game, I think it was McClellan who threw a curveball that went way inside and half the crowd jumped up and started screaming for an ejection.

"(On the pitch that hit Pujols)
"Yeah, real scary," La Russa said. "They almost got him yesterday too. There's nothing intentional about it. But they throw the ball in here and that's what all those idiots up there -- not idiots -- all those fans up there are yelling. Do you know how many bones there are in the hand? Do you know how many bones there are in the face? That's where those pitches are. And Braun -- we were trying to pitch him in too, and it was just a little stinger. I don't want to even hear about Braun getting a little pop in the back, when we almost lose this guy (Pujols) in several ways. The ball up and in is a dangerous pitch."
(It looked like the intent was to hit Braun.)
"You don't think they were trying to throw the ball intentionally up and in?" La Russa responded. "We weren't trying to hit Braun either. We did not hit Braun on purpose. We threw two balls in there real good just to send a message. If he ducks them, it's all over and we don't hit him. The ball they tried to throw on Pujols was aimed right where they aimed it. Did they try to hit him? No. But there's a small window here. You know how close that is to your face and your hands?
"I don't want to hear about our tactics vs. what they did," La Russa continued. "They did not make an intentional hit, but they tried to throw the ball up and in. It's a very dangerous pitch and we almost paid a hell of a price. Just look at the location and potential danger of the two (pitches).
"That's a dangerous pitch whoever throws it."
(On why this irate reaction to a pitch that he admitted didn't hit Pujols intentionally.)
"I'm tired of the danger," La Russa concluded. "Get the ball down if you want to get the ball inside. That's one of the ways you avoid any nonsense.""

Schroeder, who is usually pretty good, went off his nut and said Yadi was "trying to hurt" to poor umpire. I didn't even think the bumping was that bad - certainly not as bad as what Theriout did a couple of weeks ago. And the umpire certainly embellished the "spitting" episode.
I understand people don't like LaRussa. I don't really like LaRussa. But to pin all the blame on the Cardinals, especially when the Brewers are practically provoking the opposition with Morgan doing his T-Plush antics and Rodriguez styling in the eighth inning like he's just closed out the World Series, is wrong.
Certainly, Saito wasn't throwing at Pujols, just as Motte was clearly throwing at Braun. For his part, Braun handled it well. And I read a quote from Fielder where he basically said "Their guy got hit; our guy got hit. Shit happens ..."
