What an unbelievable tank job.
-Swept at home by the Mets in four;
-Sweep San Francisco in three;
-Lose two of three to Houston; and,
-Lose two to Chicago
54-59 and they are closer to the Cubs than the Brewers in the standings.
The left side of their infield is a black hole (Rolen is done for the year), Joey Votto is well off the superstar pace he had last year, Brandon Phillips is completely average, Drew Stubbs is terrible and the starting rotation can't count on anyone but Cueto.

You can throw the Pirates in there, too, TK. Nine straight losses and they are nine games out . . . oops. The difference is that the Pirates are such Sad Sacks that people were rooting for them. The Reds are almost equally as terrible, except for the fact that they had their Cinderella year last year. But alas, midnight has struck and now all they have is the Great America Pumpkin Patch.

Except the Pirates are eminently more tolerable than the Reds. I don't recall Cedeno seeking out a reporter so he could tell the world he hates the Cardinals, or McCutchen showing up to his first all-star game and not talking to another member of the NL team, because he can't suspend his narcissism for an exhibition game, and I don't recall Clint Hurdle waving any toothpicks at Carpenter.
