From Matt Holliday's facebook:
In the last 30 years, in Game 6's, the home team is 11-4. In Game 7's, the home team is 8-0.
From what I can tell (though it's easy to miss due to Baseball-Reference's poorly organized postseason pages, there have been 10 instances (in the same 30 years) of the road team having a 3-2 series lead going into Game 6.
7 of those times, the home team won the final two games of the series to clinch it.

Thanks. I'm not sure a rainout is good news or bad news.

no qualification. this is the pivotal game, not the deciding game. cards win.

I don't see how one is bad news. Two rainouts would by peachy.

Two rainouts is ideal. One rainout means Carpenter starts on short rest.
There's also the matter of a Game 7 being held concurrently with my son's youth football game on Friday night, but he'll get over me not being there.

It is great news. This thing has to go to a game 7 now for the Cards to win. This gives Carp another day rest. It also removes the Rangers from some of the momentum they built in Texas. Plus I have to work tonight. Now I can watch the game Thursday.

Carp will pitch game 7 on 4 days rest, correct? There is no point in starting him on 3 days rest in game 6, IMO.

No, if Carp was to start Game 7 it would be on 3 days rest. He pitched Monday, off Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, Game 7 on Friday. We need another day of rain to get him a full 4 days rest.
I suspect the Cardinals would draw Holland for Game 7 (on full rest) if we can win Game 6.

Good. I'd like to get another crack at Holland, so long as we had a normal strike zone that is consistent for both teams.
Game 5 is more like what I'd expect against Holland and a normal strike zone. Going one-fer . . . with guys in scoring position is a string of bad luck that would even out.

I wouldnt mind seeing Holland again. He is going to come out and do the same thing he did last time. If the strike zone is better the Cardinals should know exactly what they are in for. I could see them making adjustments like they did against Glavine in 2006.

I understand the weather is worse this morning than it was last night?

Not raining this morning, but very grey and gloomy. It is expected to clear up by mid-afternoon and be nice, albeit on the cool side, by game time.

Sounds like there is very little chance that game 6 or the potential game 7 would be effected by weather.

"the potential game 7"
Looking forward to changing the qualifier from "potential" to "decisive."

La Russa said Carpenter won't start a possible Game 7. For some reason, Westbrook is being considered. With Jackson on normal rest, I don't see how they go to Westbrook.

I think they have their best possible line-up on the field. I didn't see any loss of range in CF with Schu. With a real 2B, like Punto, and no better option in CF,I see no point in having Schu as anything other than starting CF, at least for these next two games (which may well be his last as a Card).
