Jackson on a short leash isn't the worst idea. Carp is going to pitch at some point.
After Freese hit the double in the ninth, I was numb. I wasn't even upset when Hamilton homered in the 10th, because at that point the 2011 St. Louis Cardinals owed nothing to anyone. Tying the game in the 10th with Scal and Jay facing a lefty and then a pitcher due was just sublime, and then Freese's home run was beyond comprehension.

Maybe I'm basking in the afterglow, but I think I just watched the most exciting baseball game I've ever seen.

That's the $64,000 question. The Rangers were a strike away twice. They had a 3 run lead with 6 outs to go, and a 2 run lead with their closer on the mound in the 9th. They took a 2 run lead in the 10th and the pitcher's spot was due up 3rd in the bottom of the inning. There's was no way for Texas to lose that game and they did. Now they have to recover.
On the pitching issue, I suspect Larussa plays it coy, but starts Carpenter. If you're going to be wrong, better to be wrong with Carpenter than Lohse or Jackson.

I Can believe it. I had not sleep and was in zombie mode in the 8th. I went to bed think the season was over.

Carp on a short leash makes better sense than anybody else on a short leash. It would be like giving Wyatt Earp the day off on the day of the gunfight at the OK Corral, or asking him to show up if needed.

I was dancing in the sports bar. I've never in my life seen a game like this one. I felt it was an excellent representation of our season. We did quazi-well early, kicked the ball all over the field in the middle parts, that drifted into the "produce or go home" region of time, and we came out of nowhere to produce. We had knockbacks, and rose above every one.
The season was over 3-4 times last night alone, and yet today, we're still on the books to play another game. Here we have a chance to duck in here and take this whole thing away.
I don't have the words to express the magic I witnessed last night, there's just no way to describe the theatrics of that game. Allow me to sum up using the words of the great Jack Buck.
"I don't know about you, but as for me, the question has already been answered: Should we be here? Yes!"
I believe in destiny. I believe in the Cardinals.

Unbelievable. Worst World Series game I've ever seen, and the best World Series game I've ever seen, all in the same game. 7 innings of horrendous embarrassing baseball, and 4 innings of pure sack, still cant believe that actually happened.
Dont know how the Rangers recover from that- they blew THREE saves in that game- but baseball is a funny game. If anyone other than Chris Carpenter climbs the bump tonight, then The Genius ought to have his head examined.
And say what you like about Joe Buck, but reprising his dad's Kirby Puckett call when Freese ended the game was terrific. Whatever his strengths and weaknesses are, he's great with moments like that.
Carp has to start tonight. Sure on short rest it is risky but he can take over a game. Keeping him off the mound to come in later mean you run the risk of sitting a guy who can take the ball all 9 innings. Last time he was on short rest he said he lost focus. There is no way a player isnt focused for game 7 of the world series.
Joe Buck is awesome. From what I did see last night I thought the Cardinals fan in him was bleeding through.

I am loathe to post anything authored by Passan, but there's a little shout out to Chad (and Ben), so I'll make an exception.
Love that they've dubbed the new room "The Sports Bar." The room in the old stadium was known as "The Cave" because it was the darkest, nastiest room you've ever seen.
