As I write this in the 9th inning of the Padres series, they have had a better road trip then I'd of guessed.

I told Fors right before opening day  I didn’t think they’d have a record better than 2-5 when they left San Diego. So they proved me wrong. And they should have split with the Dodgers, but they coughed up the Sunday night game.

The unwillingness to add another legit starter is baffling.  There memories of 2023 faded quickly.

The 2022 Pujols/Molina farewell tour worked out because they got lucky with Pujols’ home run chase, which admittedly was a lot of fun to watch. But they essentially torpedoed the 2023 season so Wainwright could get to 200 wins. Maybe the DeWitts have done research that indicates their fans have become more apt to buy tickets for nostalgic reasons than competitive ones. It’s the only explanation I have for bringing back Carpenter. Good luck to them. I won’t be funding it. This will be the first season since 2004 that I won’t buy the Extra Innings or a streaming package.

You're saying the Cardinals should be concerned because a guy hitting .109 who looks like he just played in the Little League World Series hit a home run into the upper deck off him?

What's the mood on the draft pick.? From what I've heard it sounds positive but I don't follow it close enough to know.

So I saw Hjerpe pitch against ASU and he struck out something like 15 guys, and he looked almost unhittable. He was the Friday night starter for a team that was in the Top 5 almost all season. He doesn't throw hard, but everything he throws has movement. He's got a funky delivery that makes him formidable against left-handed hitters. His ceiling is probably as a #3 starter. I think he's more likely to be a 7th or 8th innng guy like Cabrera.

This is the second time I've seen Strider pitch against the Cardinals this season. I hope it's the last.

I did see that on piscotty. He is a hard guy not to root for. Idk how much mlb function he has left but I hope he finds a way to stick around.

I think my only annoyance with the team is stick with dejong even tho Gorman and edman is a better combo. Maybe not every time but more then not.

And Woodford not being more of a presence.

It's time to move on from DeJong. I was disappointed they gave up on Sosa because they'd be all right with a middle infield combination of Sosa at short and Edman at second against lefties and Edman at short and Gorman at second against righties.
I'm not a big Woodford fan. But the pitcher who is really getting on my nerves is Hudson.

If anyone still gives a shit and has also been watching the games, what's up with all the lost baserunners lately? Has the team gotten extra aggressive or just sloppy at times?

I think it may be time to move on from ol' Pop Warner as the third base coach.

Any notice matt carp isn't completely useless anymore

So, he has four home runs in 24 plate appearances, but only five hits. He's playing in inarguably the best ballpark for lefthanded hitters, so the routine fly balls he was hitting to the warning track in real ballparks are carrying over the 314-foot Pony League fence. He's able to DH, so the Yankees don't have to find a place for his sorry-ass glove like the Cardinals did. And I'll wager he hasn't gotten any faster, so he's still going to clog the bases once he draws one of his nice walks.
And his moustache makes him look like the cop from the Village People.

Also, in the interest of curbing message inflation, I'll just ask here if "Liberatore" is Italian for "Hit this out"?

I'll know more once Schwindel's home run lands somewhere in Wisconsin.

Love watching games in person. I wish it wasn't such a hassle. I also wish baseball wasn't dead. My girls like the people watching not the game. I got it. I don't think anyone watches the game because they like the small games inside the game. It seems like it is just the novelty of going and posting it to fb.

I'm going to the Friday and Sunday games in a couple of weeks when the Cardinals are at Fenway Park. The Red Sox almost never offer promotions or discounts, but they had some sort of promotion this week that if you bought tickets to see the Reds or the Orioles, you got a voucher for a discounted ticket to another game involving a good opponent. I bought my tickets back in February or March, before the discount was offered, but that's a good thing. I can't imagine going to that dump of a ballpark with no parking and shitty access to the shittiest public transit system in any major city in North America to see two shitty teams in which I don't have a rooting interest.

Hey, the fantasy football waiver wire is serious business.

Yeah, at least it's something important.

What's next? Waino as DH?

Before DeJong got sent down, I thought they might let Wainwright hit for himself and DH for DeJong.
When I was in college, we had a pitcher who would DH for our second baseman on days he wasn't pitching. To say the second baseman wasn't pleased about being a "designated fielder" was an understatement.

Molina's batting average is the same as his OBP?

Wow. Has he been hacking or are pitchers simply unafraid to challenge him?

He seems to be having a harder time recognizing breaking  balls from right handed pitchers. He’s taken about a half dozen swings on pitches that end up in the dirt off the plate.
