Waino goes for 20.
Good start.

Oh god. I'm getting the Cubs' feed today.

Did they really knock out Tom Carlton? Are they really winning 7-3? And why did Jay pinch-hit for Craig?

"Did they really knock out Tom Carlton?"
Yes.
"Are they really winning 7-3?"
No. They're leading, 7-1.
"And why did Jay pinch-hit for Craig?"
Lefty/righty matchup. Genius doesn't take days off, even when you're down by seven with 10 to play.

Yahoo said it was 7-3.
Unbelievable that he'd play match-ups in the fourth inning. That's ridiculous.

At the risk of sounding like the Grim Reaper, didn't the bullpen blow a 6 run lead to cost Wainwright his 20th win last season. If I was Wainwright I'd have punched Larussa in the jaw when he came to tell me I was out of the game after only 84 pitches.
Better yet, the bullpen blows this lead and I'm Wainwright I break AAAaron Miles' jaw. Make sure they have to wire it shut. That'll teach Larussa.

Speaking of AAAaron Miles, why in the fuck is he starting at 2B? Is he auditioning for at-bats for 2011? Play Descalso Tony.
Offline
Yeah, how Greene and Descalso aren't in this lineup every day is insanity.

Congrats to Wainwright. He doesn't have a chance to win the CY, but 20 wins in an era where you only get 34 starts is pretty impressive.

I think Wainright is right there for Cy Young. If he wins 21, and has another 1 ER, 7K type day? I think he's definitely a front-runner (with Halladay).
But we'll see.

On a completely unrelated note, anyone else think that Pujols is going to make one last push to catch Hollliday for the team lead in BA? Pujols has led the team every year since his rookie season. I get the sense that means something to him.
After today,
Pujols .310
Holliday .315

Cool, I graduated to Joe Thurston. Apparently Joe McEwing wasn't available.

I think voters have already decided on Halladay.

I believe he said he wasnt going to start him because of the dump the Cubs play in and he didnt think it would be fair to play him at third. But that isnt a reason not to play him at second.

I dont know but 2 months ago we thought there could be a MVP, CY and ROY the year all on this roster. Now there is none.

I think it would have been really helpful to give Descalso some playing time but you're all over looking the fact that they were able to get a really good look at Pedro Feliz.

Holliday is going to give Pujols a hot foot in the clubhouse before tomorrow's game, sending Pujols to the DL. Then Holliday will sit on his average for the remainder of the season.

AP's too young to remember Dane Iorg, but that would have been kind of cool. I've always wanted to walk up to a complete stranger and introduce myself: "Hi, I'm Dane Iorg. My brother's name is Garth. We're Dane and Garth. Schwing!!!"

I don't know what category this post belongs in, but the seventh inning stretch at Petco Park tonight consisted of people dressed up as Star Wars characters on top of the dugouts leading the crowd in singing "YMCA." Is Chewbacca gay?

"- P. Feliz hit for D. Descalso"
Up 8-2, essentially eliminated anyway, you can't let the new kid face a lefty reliever? Somebody get Tony ejected, please!

Tony used that device yesterday. Today he had to come up with some other way of reminding everyone that he's the man at the top.

Not tonight, Reds! Bwahhhahahah!

Yep. We may possibly be eliminated by the Pirates tomorrow, which wouldn't be all that bad given the alternative scenarios.
