Re: 5/27 Gamecrap

Quote from the team report on Yahoo:

“WE'RE NOT GOING TO PUSH IT. THERE'S A LOT OF SEASON LEFT."
- Manager Tony La Russa, on injured LF Matt Holliday, who has a strained left quadriceps.

It makes sense, as long as we are still on top, but it does feel like we lost some momentum and the brewers are making their run.

Re: 5/27 Gamecrap

The subject of Bryan Anderson came up the other day.  This article by Goold on the 'lost boys' of Memphis touches briefly on Anderson and several others.

Re: 5/27 Gamecrap

It is nice to see that my suggestion that he might have a Bo Hart-like career trajectory appears to be very wrong.

I notice that his BB have gotten stuck at 8, and so the bump to his OBP from those has dropped dramatically, even as his BA has jumped dramatically.  Still over .400, however, and between his D and his O, he starts to become a real option, whether as a trade chit or something else.  He's almost looking too good to keep as a 4th outfielder, although I suppose with the threat of an injury to Berkman, they will probably averse to dealing him this season.

Re: 5/27 Gamecrap

Has anyone else noticed that Westbrook always gets off to great starts in the first inning, throwing something like 10 or 11 pitches and getting an easy 1-2-3, then running into trouble in the second? Jeez.

He's really not the same pitcher. It's weird.

Whatever you said to jolt Rasmus was much-needed, BTW.

Every time I turn back to the Cardinals' game, they've added another three runs.

Re: 5/27 Gamecrap

the elusive 2 triple game.  it's almost as though rasmus could hear that we were ready to bench him.

I admitt that nothing I said about Anderson seems relevant at this point.  I guess he was never worth his hype and is just another example of a prospect who will never make it.

They way they have added them has been impressive, nothing flashy, just grinding out a run here and there.

It really is weird. Ubaldo's like a one year wonder.

Berkman seems like an inspiration for the Cards (happy)

I don't recall what you said about Anderson, but your dislike of Yadi is well-known.  I suspect that the underlying issue is that Yadi's wife/girlfriend is 400 pounds, and you secretly covet her.

Re: 5/27 Gamecrap

This is why ESPN sucks. They're showing an interview of the Alabama softball coach on their highlights show, and the part of the clip they air is the guy saying: "You guys (at ESPN) are the best friends college softball has."

My dislike in Yadi is fully vest in how he was being used and overvalued.  It is headed in that direction again but this year he is living up to his hype.  He was being used in the past like he was the kind of player he has been this year.  Before he was killing the offense by batting him so high in the lineup.

yes it's fun to win and fun to watch . . . now.  but . . .

i saw the slide by descalso and thought from the angle i had that his slide was a bit lazy: feet first, tag with hand, never went all the way to the dirt.  didn't see the pick off of berkman, which led to a non-run.

when we are winning games by 6 runs, it doesn't matter that we lose two more.  but as the season progresses and things get tighter, we could be in for some let downs if some of the fundamentals of baseball don't improve.

Re: 5/27 Gamecrap

Ryan Franklin, thy turkey is done.

Does anybody else interpret the non-appearance of Ryan Franklin in a game we won by 7 runs to be an indication that he will not pitch again?

Are you suggesting he should have crashed the catcher?
