pujols back at third.

Good move conceptually. Vogelsong has been nails lately.
I can't believe I would have ever written that second sentence.

If they're going with a "Damn the defense, full speed ahead" mentality, WTF is Skip doing back in the lineup?

Even including the '98 Marlins, that might be the worst lineup I've ever seen from a defending WS champion.

an attempt at a serious answer:
TK suggested that Skip and Tony are on a break. AP's assessment was that even La Russa can see this isn't working out. I have been out of the news loop, but haven't run across anything that confirms any of this.
My hunch is that if Franklin needs to play himself out of a position, then Schu does, too. Loyalty trumps performance, for a while, at least.

Gotta get his hot bat in the lineup. Plus, he's hitting .210/.269/.323 off righties this season.

My bad.

Jon Jay is baseball's Zeus.

Interesting 1-1 game: the Giants' pitcher has an RBI and the Cardinals' pitcher has a run.

Tonight's trivia, from FS Reds:
There are three active pitchers who have hit a home run whilst playing for a team in each league. I'll give you C.C. Sabathia. Who are the other two?

Micah Owings?

I'm really beginning to dislike Trever Miller.
Oh look. Skip Schumaker made an out. Go figure.

Has never played in the AL.

I guess that makes it tough for him to have been one of the other two.

I'll bet you guys who were critical of Ryan Franklin are feeling a little foolish right now.
Best fans in baseball, my foot.

Even Chris Berman thinks Jon Jay is a god!

Only in the sense of him being one of the correct answers.
Another hint: One of them is (or was) pitching tonight. The other is ... not.

Berman: Romo would be a closer on most teams.
Sutcliffe: The Cardinals included.
Funny, that's exactly what the Cardinals' closers looked like for the first 3 weeks of the season.

Since you said it was Reds broadcasters, how about Arroyo.

I was about to post leaving in the lefty to face Craig is a mistake. He's been hitting seeds.

well, because they often link these to the teams that are playing i would have guessed chris carpenter, but the hint helped solidify that guess.
for the other one i would guess fergie jenkins.

"how about Arroyo.'
I'll have to look it up, but I think all of Arroyo's homers have come against the Cubs, as a member of the Reds.
... 5 career homers, all with the Reds. Two vs. Cubs, one apiece vs. Giants, Dodgers and Cards. He took Pineiro deep in 2008.

Like I said earlier, Schu is instant offense.
