Active, my friend, active.

Like I said earlier, Schu is instant offense.

If the game isn't so close, that's when the first baseman turns to the runner and says something like: "Hard to believe that one stayed in the ballpark."

Ooh, Mr. Fancy Pants has a technicality.  Well, forget it, I'm not buying it.  I'm sticking with my answer, Alex, "Who is Ferguson Jenkins?"

How about Grienke. He was in that Cincy game. He hit one tonight?

Descalso comes up human in the late innings for once.

Seriously, was that our best option on the bench?

Re: 5/31 game crap

Considering who's pitching for the Giants the next two nights, that's a significant win.

Ding, ding. He didn't hit one tonight, but he's a correct answer.
The other currently plays in the AL.

Re: 5/31 game crap

Ugh. I like Rasmus, but damn man...you gotta make that.

I was thinking Schumaker gets the next two nights off since he stands no chance against either Lincecum or Sanchez, but that Skip n Slide might have gotten him the nod.

And oh yeah, if teams want either Craig or Jay, they better be willing to pay a big price. Those two are keepers.

I'd have to weed that out as incorrect then. I doubt Fergie ever had an at bat in the AL. He came over after the DH was installed and retired before interleague play.

It was him, Kozma or Cruz. And you don't get the Genius mantle by sending up right-handed hitters against right-handed pitchers when it's close and late.

Re: 5/31 game crap

"that Skip n Slide"

He would have been safe by a step and a half if he hadn't slid. The two stupidest baserunning plays are sliding into first and sliding into home headfirst.
Excepting that braincramp Albert had in the first inning. WTF was that all about?

When they signed Berkman, I questioned whether Craig could have given them similar production.

In hindsight, I doubt Craig could have done what Berkman has done, but everything he has done still makes me think he'll be an important part of the 2012 team.

Meanwhile, at Wrigley, do you think Carlos and Carlos are going out for drinks after the game?

Top 9, Cubs 3, Astros 1
- C. Marmol relieved C. Zambrano
- B. Wallace singled to right
- C. Johnson doubled to right, B. Wallace to third
- M. Downs doubled to left, B. Wallace and C. Johnson scored
- A. Sanchez sacrificed to pitcher, M. Downs to third
- M. Bourn singled to shallow left center, M. Downs scored
- M. Bourn stole second
- C. Barmes walked
- H. Pence homered to deep left, M. Bourn and C. Barmes scored
- S. Marshall relieved C. Marmol

Agree, except when I saw it at full speed, I thought he was sliding to avoid a possible tag by the pitcher. The replay proved me wrong, but if he thought the pitcher had a swipe, I can't blame him for trying to get out of the way.

1) what's wrong with sliding head first into home, other than the obvious risk of injury?

2) what did Albert do?

3) wtf was what all about?

thank you, and have a pleasant day.

well, he wasn't active, nor did he ever hit a dinger in the AL, but otherwise I'd rate it a fine effort on my part.

I dont think anyone comment on the play the other night that he stopped at the warning track.

Watching highlights I agree, he thought the pitcher had a swipe and he cold probably see clearly that pitcher's foot was not on the bag, so that the only play was a tag.

Also:

-the pitch that Skip swung at was pretty questionable, as in obviously out of the strike zone.

-Albert's swing looked like classic Pujols.  I hope we see more of that.

-Craig's swing was funny, almost like a check swing double.  Either he's a really strong guy to smack that pitch inside out into the gap in right center, or else that was a blistering fastball that just ricocheted off his bat almost to the warning track.

Re: 5/31 game crap

upon closer inspection, forget that earlier take about craig's swing.  it was more like he was golfing . . . still a weird looking swing.

Had Tejada slid into first on this play he probably would have been safe.

I'm a little disappointed no one got the weed reference.
