UCLA - needs to beat Irvine twice to get to the Super Regionals
Rice (but TCU wouldn't surprise me) - tied with Cal in an elimination game, then would have to beat Baylor twice
Florida St. - 12 outs away
South Carolina - 15 outs away
Fullerton - needs to hold off Illinois and then beat Stanford twice
Oregon St. - Two games to beat Georgia once
Texas - needs to beat Kent St. twice
Florida - in the Super Regionals

This is the year of the #3 seed - Irvine, Dallas Baptist, Cal, Alabama, James Madison, Georgia, Kent St. and Mississippi St. all made it to the regional finals.
Of the #4 seeds, Oral Roberts, Belmont and Illinois are alive.

Re: Eight for Omaha

Oregon State has a super regional against Vanderbilt.

Did Vandy really go 50-10? Ouch, well go Beavers!

Re: Eight for Omaha

Tough pickens' this year . Some other big boys out  (TCU), and others like LSU didn't get in at all . ( swept CSF earlier this year ).

I guess Seton Hall winning the Big East tournament gummed things up for LSU, Don.  The last spot came down to either St. John's or LSU.

Now I have no idea who pitches tomorrow. Could be me. I still have some eligibility left.

Re: Eight for Omaha

Vandy beat Oregon State's ass. Wasn't really even close. Aw well, still some great baseball to be played.

The second game was closer than the score indicated.

Re: Eight for Omaha

true enough, it was a 1 run game for a long while, but it's hard to say it was close when you're outscored 20-4 over 2 days.

Yes, clearly the better team won.
OSU was listed as "Oregon" in the Boston Globe today. Does that annoy you as much as it annoys me when some talking head confuses Arizona State and Arizona?

Re: Eight for Omaha

It does. Course there's a few of those that annoy me. I consider OSU to be Oregon State, and I cannot count the times I thought that Oregon State lost Terrell Pryor and Jim Tressell for a moment before realizing it.

Buddy asked me if USC was still in the baseball tournament, I was like.... were they ever?? Oh. South Carolina... Yes, they are still in it.
