Phillies designate LHP J.C. Romero for assignment

My initial reaction was this is someone about whom the Cardinals should inquire, but then I read the comments and most of Phillies' fans cited Romero as an aging pitcher who in his dotage is afraid to throw strikes.
I'm not sure the answer to the Cardinals' bullpen problems right now is a left-handed version of Miguel Batista.

Apparently Moz doesn't share your concern.

Well, I'm glad he's at least tacitly acknowledging there's a problem rather than continuing to channel his inner Kevin "All is Well!!" Bacon from Animal House.
Piss on a sparkplug if you think it helps, Moz. The bullpen is in tatters. There's no one down there who is reliable right now.

FWIW, I read the comments and thought the same thing, Artie, but predicting what the Cards might do is a very different thing from indicating what you or I would do!
They knew back in ST that pumping up the bullpen was the issue. They got lucky with Salas and Sanchez, but some more experienced help could be key.
Another thing we should keep in mind as fans is that as much as we like Jay, Sanchez, Salas, and all of the other young players who have stepped up, the chance that all of them are the real deal is like tossing four cards and drawing a royal flush. Some will be traded and that will be that. . . . and the more we expose them, the greater the risk we lower their value.
Haven't been able to follow much for more than a week--around the time the Cards started losing every game. They finally kicked nemesis off the project (or will be the end of the weekend). Now begins the process of restoring my tattered reputation.
