Who the hell is Danny Duffy?

One of KC's numerous top prospects.

I havent heard of half of that lineup. The sad thing is that Royals fans are saying the same thing about the Cardinals lineup.

I have never seen Pujols show that much pain. This could be really bad. A wrist or hand injury could be almost season ending at this point. These things are going to happen but I have been critical of the way Pujols plays the bag before. He often cross infront of the runner and that is what I thought would get him. On that play you could see his foot on top of the bag. I was always taught to find the inside corner of the bag with your foot and as a runner to pass on the outside half of it. I have often thought that Pujols has not given the dangers of the incoming runner enough thought.

I have no clue why they threw at the Royals for the Pujols deal. That was Pujols' fault. Yet Cuto can go Walker Texas Ranger on Larue's head and nothing has happened.

Yet the Royals continue to stink year after year. Maybe the Royals are overrating their prospects?

It's supposedly a sprain. Cardinal nation can breathe again.

Nah. Most of these guys were drafted in the last three years. The draft has been one of the few things KC does right.

"That was Pujols' fault."
How?

Any question that Larussa will still have wood over Schumaker's HR come tomorrow? I didn't see the post game presser--how many times did he mention Schu being a core player?

Well his glove was in the baseline. I suppose the runner could have stopped and waited for Pujols to make the play or not before trying to reach the base but I am not sure that has ever happend. It wasnt as if the runner could have avoided it either. Pujols swipped his glove back while trying to short hop it. It isnt the runners responsibility to look out for the first baseman IMO.

I changed the channel like normal before then. Descalso would have hd a key hit as well. Jeff Francoeur has a hell of an arm.

That probably gave Skippy a life-time get out of jail free card .

I'm not sure that had anything to do with it, AP. I assumed Tallet threw at Gordon because Coleman went up and in on Pujols in the fifth inning. The collision at first was just a baseball play. I don't think anyone is blaming Benemit.

Scal either didn't know or forgot on whom he was trying to run. As soon as he got about 15 feet past first base I thought to myself "Oh shit ..."

Yeah, I knew when he was rounding first that he was going to be nailed unless Frenchie made an off-line throw. That was an incredible play. He didn't even aim, just picked it up and fired. I'll add that KC's defense is impressive all over the diamond.

What is this "impressive defense" of which you speak? Do you not realize that impressive defense is no substitute for a scraptastic roster?

I think you have Royal Envy.

This is pretty funny. I have to confess that I, too, was a little perplexed by the "consecutive series with a hit" distinction. What's the record for most consecutive series with a hit? Ty Cobb with like a kabillion and five?

Ugh. I don't care for the Royals at all. I'd like to have their prospects and their defensive abilities, but still...ugh.

i must have missed that. i still question the quick and direct action when tlr is dancing on egg shells against dusty fucking baker.

I'd like the Cardinals to have my high school team's defensive capabilities.

I think it goes deeper than that. Tensions were pretty high on Friday when 2 Cardinals were hit. Also, wasn't there prior bad blood between Larussa and Yost from back when Yost was managing the Brewers?
Having said that, I'm not sure I believe Tallet was told to throw at Gordon with the Cardinals up 1 in the 7th and the heart of KC's order coming up. Maybe Tallet did it on his own thinking it was the right move, but I doubt it was ordered under the circumstances.

The whole thing was questionable. In the prior at bat to Rasmus, Coleman threw two pitches that were five feet outside. He threw the same pitch to Pujols, and it almost hit him because Pujols is right-handed. There's no way Coleman was trying to hit him in that situation.
Plunking Gordon was equally absurd, and if Francouer's line drive doesn't happen to be hit right at Skippy for an inning-ending double play, the Cardinals probably lose the game.
The Cardinals' bullpen has a hard enough time. There's no reason for them to be giving free rides.
