Re: Roster Moves

It's kind of weird that they're going with three catchers, though Cruz did come up as a third baseman and can play first base.

No.  Walters was scheduled to start tonight in Memphis, so he's available to eat innings tonight if need be.

Lynn looks like he could eat innings, and still have enough room to do a number on the post-game spread.

Re: Roster Moves

I think Walters was called up because of the 13 inning game.  In his case the Cardinals are just using the Memphis roster as an extension of the 25 man.  Dickson looked good and I wouldnt expect him to be in Memphis for long.

Leaving Cruz on the roster is suprising but he does fill the role that Hamilton as a late inning pinch hitter better.

Hrabosky's explanation made sense (I know, go figure). If Hamilton stays and Cruz goes, then they have an excess of left-handed hitters. And Hamilton's only defensive position is apparently first base. Cruz can play first, third and catcher.

Re: Roster Moves

Hamilton has played a few inning in the outfield a very small amount.  I think the basic reason that Cruz remain on the team over Hamilton is that it is alot more helpfull to have a pinch hitter who can actually hit.

If you say so, Mr. Fussy ...
