Until last weeked, I wouldn't have known Zack Cozart from a Cuisinart, but I have issues with anyone named Zachary who spells the short version with a K at the end.
We picked for our son a traditional, easily-pronounced yet not all together common name that ought to be easy to spell. Except its been bastardized by brain dead morons who have to be unique. "Zackary" is bad enough, but I've seen "Zachery," "Zackery," and there was even a pitcher at ASU a couple of years ago who went by how-could-you-oh-my-god-no "Zechery."
It's Zachary. If you want the short version, it's Zach.

"We named our girl Tieler.  Make fun of me."

I was exaggerating to make a point?

Back when I covered HS sports regularly, there was a softball team with four girls with the same name spelled four different ways: Alison, Allison, Allyson and, believe it or not, Alicyn.

And don't even get me started on the way black women name their kids. Here's a basketball roster from a couple of years ago that gave our sports editor fits:

Varsity  Roster                                   Grade           Number      Position
HANNAH BYRNE 10 5 Forward
DIAMOND DOE 11 10 Forward
TASHANNA BROWN 10 12 Guard
BRIANNA CAPONE 10 13  Guard
FRANCES MATHIEU 12 20 Forward
DANESHA BROWN 9 21 Forward
SHANECE BERBERENA 10 23 Guard
SOCHITTA MEN 12 25 Forward
PIERINA MORA 12 32 Forward
JESSICA STEVENS 9 40 Guard
MARINA FERNANDEZ 10 44 Guard

It took me a minute but I get it.  The questionmark indicates sarcasm.

More like hope that I didn't make an ass out of myself again.

The short version is Zack.  Just like the "short" version of John is Jack, and the nickname for Walter is Guy.  It might not make any fucking sense, but that's the way it is.

Re: Zack Cozart Walk Watch

"the nickname for Walter is Guy."

I didn't know that. I've always know a Walter as Walt, and I think the judges would accept Wally.
Unless it's a Francophone thing. Is the pronunciation "Gee," like LaFleur?

Re: Zack Cozart Walk Watch

Walt works, too.  But the Americans who I know that go by the name "Guy" (not the French pronunciation) are named Walter, unless I have utterly misremembered my youth (which could be the case).

Re: Zack Cozart Walk Watch

Looks like Honus just had his forearm snapped in half. That was gross looking.

I'm sure Jonny Gomes will have something clever to say.

Re: Zack Cozart Walk Watch

Darn, left for a little while and the DVR only goes back to the 4th inning.

What happened?

Re: Zack Cozart Walk Watch

Hyperextended elbow. No officials at bats today. OBP and Batting average remain equal.
