Tone made some comments to KSDK earlier where he talked about how awesome Rasmus is, but he goes outside the organization for help and gets into funks. Now Strauss is saying that a Rasmus trade has gone from being an option to being an inevitability.
Sometimes Tone needs to simply shut the fuck up. I can't take credit for this--someone at the P-D (Miklasz??) first pointed it out--but Tone didn't have a problem with his players seeking outside help in 2008 and 2009. Perhaps the fact that the "outside help's" name was Mark McGwire had something to do with that.
And if Tone is going to get upset about players getting into funks, then perhaps he can explain why Theriout has stepped on the field the last 2 weeks or so. He's 2 for his last 35 and was picked off of first on one of those 2 hits. For July, his line is .159/.172/.222 and I don't want to even try to count the number of games he may have cost this team with his lack of range and that iron skillet he calls a glove. Since the start of June, Descalso's line is .323/.410/.404 and Descalso has more than shown an ability to play shortstop.
I've been as big a Larussa supporter as anyone, but if the notion they're trying to sell is that Rasmus won't succeed as a Cardinal, maybe the time has come to investigate the barrier that's apparently holding him back.
Either that or maybe Rasmus needs to learn to cuddle better in the shower.

I kind of got the impression from listening to The Cat that Holliday has some kind of digestive problem that won't linger.Great. We're relying on a guy who has a TV spot called "the Cat Fight" for breaking news.
I don't know if you heard the nightly third inning Cat Call, but the impression I got was he walked into Tone's office, asked what was wrong with Holliday, and the reply was probably something like "He's on the crapper, shitting his brains out. Why don't you go join him?"
TLR seems to give The Cat alot of crap. I remeber last year he asked a question during Tony TV and TLR let him have it. I dont know what it means but the team being willing to give Hayes crap and know he can take it might give him an inside edge to getting info.

TLR on Theriot
""He's just like what happens to virtually everyone," La Russa said. "I don't think his stroke is quite there. While he works to get it right, we'll give somebody else a chance to get some at-bats.""
TLR on Rasmus
"After saying Rasmus is listening "to somebody," La Russa fielded a follow-up question from KSDK (Channel 5) reporter Frank Cusumano about whether his coaching staff was the source for that instruction.
"No, he doesn't listen to the Cardinal coaches much now, and that's why he gets in these funks, in my opinion," La Russa said, echoing a theme first advanced July 10.
"If he would stay with what they teach, he would have ... but I actually feel concern for him, because he hears it from so many places, he's got to get confused.""

Sideline reporters rarely get taken seriously, AP, especially the beat reporters. What can happen is they get kind of adopted as a tolerable nuisance by the players, like the little brother who keeps hanging around with his older brother's friends. And then they start to feel like they're part of the team. I've seen some of the most egregious violations of etiquette committed by sideline reporters. The one who works for the channel that covers the Bruins kissed the Stanley Cup on the ice in Vancouver. That's just really, really bad.

I'm thinking I just want this drama to be over. Then I want Tone to explain why Theriot is 2 for his last 35, and if he is seeking outside hitting instruction from Mike the Tiger.
Good for you. I look forward to having someone else to talk with about the fine art of sausage making.
