Pujols speaks

I don't ever recall a quote like this from Pujols.  It sounds more like something La Russa would say.  It sounds like the face of an organization willing to become its voice, too.  Maybe I am reading too much into this, but I
take new optimism that Pujols will be resigned, and that the tinkering we are seeing now is the evidence that this organization intends to win now and for the remainder of Pujols's career--the conditions that Pujols set out for resigning with the Cards.

"We didn't just get 'guys.' We got guys who can win and know how to win games and have been with organizations that have had success in the past," said first baseman Albert Pujols. "That's a big key. You don't want to bring just anybody here. You want guys who can adjust and become part of what we have going here."

I'm not sure what happens in August has any bearing on what happens in November, Max.

Re: Pujols speaks

I didn't watch last night's game, but I can only assume that they had another sleep-walking performance.

I don't wanna say that the season comes down to these next three games, but the season comes down to these next three games.

Double plays killed them. And Holliday was a black hole. I think he struck out three times and grounded into a double play.

Way too early for that, TK. They still have 12 games left against the Brewers. They're only really in danger if they get swept and fall 5 1/2 games back.

Re: Pujols speaks

According to the P-D, the Cardinals play 22 of their next 41 games against the Brewers or Pirates.  That's a lot of ball against the teams near the top.

Not for nuthin', but I watched a soccer game in London yesterday morning and the British announcer described one team's performance as "somnambulent." I can't even imagine Thom Brennaman trying to say that.

The lekking dance is a long affair in human relations.  The quote could mean nothing, but I will put a thumbtack in that one and see what happens.
