Re: 8/1 Gamecrap

How does a guy score from first on a ball that hits the infield dirt?

Re: 8/1 Gamecrap

This "win-now" thing is working well.

Re: 8/1 Gamecrap

I wonder if the Astros are going to charge Double A rates for tickets to see this Double A team they're going with the rest of the way?

Re: 8/1 Gamecrap

I saw where the Astros optioned out Wallace and Johnson. What's the point of that?  Aren't those exactly the kind of guys they should be finding out about?

Maybe the Astros are repaying Baker for all those games the Cardinals lost to Houston on purpose in 2004 to keep Dusty's Cubs out of the playoffs that year.

Re: 8/1 Gamecrap

The team is not the only thing falling apart.

"The 2-foot-by-4-foot black metal plate fell from the west side of the stadium, off South Eighth Street near Spruce Street, and was discovered shortly after noon by a landscaper, according to Ron Watermon, the Cardinals' director of public relations and civic affairs. The trim is about 80 feet off the ground, bolted beneath exposed brick.

"We don't know what caused it to fail. We don't know if it's an isolated issue. Our hope is that it is," Watermon said. "We closed off all of the perimeter around the ballpark, so that we can conduct a thorough inspection of all the similar ornamental trim.""

Re: 8/1 Gamecrap

One more issue with the stadium.

"The Cardinals have identified a way to correct the boundary issue at the outfield walls in Busch Stadium, they just aren't sure they can change the ballpark this season. During the previous home stand, two balls hits by Cardinals ricocheted off the exposed concrete on the outfield wall. One was ruled a homer, and the other, hit Sunday by David Freese, was not. Umpire Derryl Cousins told Post-Dispatch baseball writer Rick Hummel that night that he had been told the similar shot, hit by Albert Pujols, should not have been a homer.

To correct the problem, a club official said Busch's crew suggested moving the wall pads up and repositioning them to cover the exposed concrete. That would make the boundary calls —essentially where the wall ends and a homer begins — more defined. The Cardinals official said the team is not sure if it can be completed this season and that it could be "an offseason fix.""

I think you should finally admitt to having alittle man crush on Rasmus.

Had they traded him and Shelby Miller for Ubaldo, I'd be doing the chicken dance naked.

I think we all understand now.  You like Rasmus, but you don't have an oversized man-crush on him.  You like him . . . what shall we say . . . an ordinary amount.  You like Rasmus an ordinary amount.

Roger that.  We are copacetic.

As far as my favorite players go, he's below Holliday, Pujols, Wainwright, Carpenter and Derek Jeter.
