Bernie calling out La Russa, Mozeliak, DeWitt

Pretty good segment on Bernie's show just now. He called out La Russa and Mozeliak for getting the team they wanted that is drastically under-performing, then he said that it's not his money, but surely DeWitt can't be happy that his $110 million payroll is not going to produce any playoffs.

I think the calls to oust La Russa and Mozeliak are going to get pretty loud in the next six weeks.

Re: Bernie calling out La Russa, Mozeliak, DeWitt

This may be just my own perception, but I've noticed more empty seats at Busch III this season, and that's going to get DeWitt's attention.
If the Brewers continue to pull away, Moz is probably in trouble since he had two chances to shape the team.
TLR probably gets the same deal where he comes back if he wants to. It's amazing how much people love to kick him when they think he's down. Even Steve Blass, who usually spends all his air time grousing about how frustrated he is with the Pirates, blamed him for the nonsense in Milwaukee last week. In their zeal to criticize LaRussa, people have forgotten in the last two weeks that both of the Cardinals' corner infielders could have had their careers ended by pitches that were up and in.

Re: Bernie calling out La Russa, Mozeliak, DeWitt

I think Larussa comes back for 1 more year to pass McGraw, but I agree with Tk that there are going to be some pretty loud cries for his ouster.  Tk said back in December/January that this was Larussa's handpicked team, and he's correct.  People will want him held accountable for that.  The one thing people won't consider is that with Wainwright, this team is probably in contention.  Without him, they just didn't/don't have the horses in the rotation.

So in other words, someone is going to have to pay for Ryan Theriout?

I think it's only fair.

I can forgive Theriot.  Giving Rasmus away is the stupidest thing I have seen the Cardinals do in a long time.  However I am not sure they will switch GM's and manager in an off years as important as this one.

"I can forgive Theriot.:

It's really not his fault, is it? The lesson is you can't skimp on defense up the middle and in the bullpen. If Skippy turns a double play in the third inning, the Cardinals probably win the game 4-1. But it wasn't Skippy's idea to make him a second baseman, was it?
