Been looking over a Cubs board and they are already talking like Matt Kemp is a Cub and that Justin Upton will be the fallback option. Reminder that these two players are still a couple years away from free agency.

I suppose anything is better than focusing on the present. They have three more years at $18 mil per of Soriano striking out on sliders in the dirt and hopping around left field like a toad, they have to give Zambrano an $18 million golden parachute, $14 million for Dumpster, and they're going to have to decide whether to pick up Ramirez's $16 million option.
I have no idea why the Dodgers would entertain trading Matt Kemp. He's probably the best value in the major leagues this year.

To me the Cubs situation is pretty clear. They are never going to win by adding players to the current roster. They seem to have a middle infield that could be one of the best in the league, given time. I would sell every high dollar piece I could, spend two year rebulding and then start signing big name free agents.
