Was it just me, or did anyone else read this to mean that La Russa ain't coming back, that he's probably headed to CWS, and it won't be any surprise if Pujols lands there too?
After repeated repeated experience with lots of La Russa-ian sandbagging before signing a short-term contract, this just ain't sounding like La Russa sounds before he signs an extension.

This was a much more interesting read, a least for me:
Baker noted the early-season injury problems of Reds starters Johnny Cueto and Homer Bailey. "And we lost (Aroldis) Chapman for a month in the bullpen," said Baker.
"We didn't get the years out of the left-field position (Jonny Gomes, etc.) that we were hoping to get. And Scotty (third baseman Scott Rolen) was hurt. I don't know how many games he missed."
Rolen, who is on the disabled list after shoulder surgery, has missed more games (73) than he has played (65).
Baker noted the constant difficulties of the Reds meshing offense, starting pitching and bullpen this year. "We never got everything in synch," he said.
OK, I understand Cueto has good statistics, but he's going to end up making 25 more starts than Wainwright made this year.
Homer Bailey? Really? The guy with the .500 record and ~5.00 ERA who has never been healthy for an entire season was expected to be a stalwart in the rotation?
Jonny Gomes is a lifetime .243 hitter with occasional power and a defensive liability. He had a decent year in 2010. To expect him to not revert to the mean this year was foolish.
Scott Rolen got hurt? Wow. I'm astonished. At least Cal Ripken's streak is safe.
LaRussa has some shortcomings as a manager, but he always realized that over the course of 162 games and six months, players are going to get hurt.

Yes, La Russa is not usually a whiner when it comes to injuries. But I can't really blame Baker too much, as it will take Cincy fans several years before they wrap their minds around the reasons why 2010 wasn't the beginning of a dynasty.
