Re: 9/19 (Sulawesi time) game crap

"You keep making the comparison since June, which is no less arbitrary than July 19."

It was your suggested time period, not mine.

"So, for both pitchers, their IP/start is probably not good since June, and i would guess that Westbrook's is worse than Lohse."

"I kind of suspect a guy is injured when he pitches great for two months, than like shit for 7 weeks, then halfway decent for 2 months.  Could be a a statistical blip, but he was consistently awful for a while there."

The same could be said of Westbrook.  6.53 ERA in April, 3.77 in May, 5.60 in June, 3.96 in July, 4.06 in August, 3.07 in September.  Or you could look at the pitcher's track record of being a career .500 pitcher and realize that throughout his career there have been maddening periods of inconsistency.  That holds true for both Westbrook and Lohse.

Again, back to the guys in the booth: I think they have smelled out a likely scenario, where the Cards sign Berkman to play first, figuring Pujols walks, in which case Criag gets right field.

Title of Post Dispatch story about the Cardinals being unwilling to committ to Berkman's dolllar amout.

OK, all Lohse has to do is beat Halladay tomorrow night.

I could also poop a 5lb gold turd and pay for my kids college.

On the plus side, AP's hometown paper has a nice story today below a headline that reads: "Local man poops gold"

Give Berkman credit for his honesty

"It's always about money," Berkman said. "No matter what people say, it's always about the money."

Re: 9/19 (Sulawesi time) game crap

"Referring to pending free agent first baseman Pujols and Prince Fielder, Berkman said, "There are two guys who are going to get well over $20 million a year. While I may not be in that production category, I'm not that far off. Even at my age I would think someone would look at my situation as a bargain."

I wonder what Berkman sees his value at?  He is underpaid at 8 million.  I was hoping he would take 10 million but my opinion now is that he might want someplace between 12-15 million.

If they dont sign Berkman, going with Craig in RF that would open up 10 million dollars that I had bugeted.  If they could trade Loshe or Westbrook and save 5-6 million they might be able to swing a deal for Jackson.  That is getting pretty complex.

It depends on how many years he wants, of course: $40/4 might make the $10 million per year palatable to him.  But for a single year, I think he would be fair asking for $15-20 after what he has done for us.

Why do a sense a major debate about nothing coming on?

Go back a bit further in the thread and notice that I arbitrarily chose "after July 19" because that was when he stopped sucking.
