9/22 Gamecrap

Is this looking like a rain delay, or a rain out?

Re: 9/22 Gamecrap

Tarp is still on the field.  It may depend on the Mets' flight plans.  I don't think this starts anytime soon.

I wouldn't be adverse to a rain out if it means skipping a Westbrook start.
And I'm sure the Mets would like nothing more than to travel halfway across the country again to play a makeup game next Thursday, if it becomes necessary.

Because TLR gets a commission every time Hrabosky uses the word "scrappy" on air.

Re: 9/22 Gamecrap

I'm not opposed to the decision to re-sign Berkman.  But why do I have this feeling that we should be giving Allen Craig about 450-500 at bats next season?

Six more outs and we're down to a game.

Re: 9/22 Gamecrap

Damn it.  I didnt know it was a day game.  I was really looking forward to watching thegame tonight.  Oh well I will take the outcome if they can manage another inning.

I cant see how the Cardinals dont makethe playoffs.  There is noway that they can come this far and not make it.

Re: 9/22 Gamecrap

Well, they could very easily stumble against the Cubs and Astros.

Re: 9/22 Gamecrap

They could very well stumble today. Nice job Motte.

Or right now.

Assuming they get out of this mess and are one game out things seems to have fallen into place.  They pla 6 games against two of the worst teams in the NL.  The Braves play a hot Nationals team and then the Phillies.

Re: 9/22 Gamecrap

Unbelievable. Furcal, Motte and Salas own this one.

Re: 9/22 Gamecrap

Awful pitch by Salas to Wright. He got lucky.

Re: 9/22 Gamecrap

Gee, I'd almost forgotten how badly Tone can fuck up a game when he wants to.  Sure, Motte sucked, but why didn't Westbrook pitch the seventh?  Why not give Motte a day off?  He's burned five friggin' arms since the 7th and another if we can't win it in the ninth with the slappy "defensive" squad he's left us with.  WTF goes through this guy's mind?

Motte, Salas and Dotel have been ridden too hard.

They have to sweep the next games.

Artie, enjoy that trip to Buffalo. They don't recover from that loss.

Westbrook was done. I knew as soon as Harris just missed that home run he'd stop pitching and start nibbling. He threw 24 pitches in the first three innings and 60 in the last three he pitched. There's no reason to pitch around Reyes and there's certainly no reason to walk Tejada, especially with the bases loaded.
I know his line looks good and the focus will rightfully be on the bullpen's implosion and Furcal not being able to get at least one out on the double play ball, but he's got to go deeper in a game when it takes him 24 pitches to get the first nine outs.

Rarely do you see the words "enjoy" and "Buffalo" in the same sentence.

Only when they're immediately followed by "wings", or separated by "[my favorite team]'s trouncing of".

Westbrook was done...

Understandable, and I of course couldn't tell from my vantage point.  But I was actually a little taken aback to see Motte's mug pop up on the screen with a four-run lead one night after a four-out save.  I've been wondering why McClellan, after having been a starter half of the season, isn't used more for longer relief, and why Boggs isn't an option in that situation.  The team keeps crowing about all of its righty bullpen arms but doesn't act like it has any confidence in a few of them.

Take all of my rants with the understanding that I haven't been more disappointed in a loss since perhaps Game 6 or 7 of the '85 WS.  I hung around the computer for that crap when I should have been doing something productive.
