Little dribbler up the middle by Rollins. Getting a little warm.

There goes the ball game..

How do you leave a change-up up in the zone to Howard. Everyone knows that ball has to be low and away.

God I can't wait for the Phillies to get creamed in the World Series.

Wow, this thing turned in a hurry.
Sorry for rewarding you with my faith, Kyle Lohse.

This is exactly why I wouldnt have started Loshe. He can turn from a game upside down in a matter of minutes. He gave up two HRs on belt high change ups. Does he not think 2 HRs hitters are going to see a belt high change up from a right hander? That is a BP fastball. Loshe really fucked up my night.

It's not quite like that, TK. He was doing quite well, but for some reason he fatigued in the 6th. In hind sight he should have walked Howard again after he didn't miss on that 2-2 change-up. Third time trhough the order, they Phillies are getting to him; that's all. But it doesn't make him a shitty pitcher.

yes it does.

He's not shitty, but he's not good enough to hang in the playoffs either. I got nervous about him facing the middle of the lineup for a third time. I think they had to go to Rhodes against Howard.

Okay, he isnt shitty? Yet he cant face the line up three time. Isnt a playoff pitcher and needs a bullpen pitcher to clean his mess up in the 5th?

Hindsight is 20/20, but yeah, he was losing it.

The bullpen didn't do any better. They might have done worse.
The problem wasn't so much that he couldn't get through the line up the third time, as that it was be became fatigued and couldn't get through the line up the third time. He was losing his location; that was pretty clear. No one would say, 'put a 79 mph change-up over the heart of the plate to Ryan Howard". That's called a mistake, and to make that mistake, with all of the other location errors in that inning, suggests to me that he got tired.
The leadoff hit worried me in that inning, and as TK said, maybe La Russa should have had a lefty warming up to face Howard from that moment.

I am out. Time to watch something that doesnt make me want to punch myself in the throat.

Lohse made good pitches before then. It was a great AB by Howard. Any other year, he tries to hit that low-and-away sinker out of the park and strikes out or rolls over a ground ball to the right side. He waited for Lohse to make a mistake and clobbered it.
Halladay is just freakin' awesome.

Rollins' hit had blood all over it, and then he got Utley out on some nasty shit. Six inches higher and Pence's single is an inning-ending DP ball.
Shit happens, but I don't think Lohse was fatigued. He only threw 77 pitches.

he started missing his locations. that was what my opinion was based on.

That game is a win if Wainwright or Carpenter are pitching. The '11 Cards were a great story, but I have to remind myself that they shouldn't be here.

yeah, six runs with a chance i the 9th for many more should have been good enough to steal the first game. but no sense crying in our beer. game 2 today, and if our bats light up, as theirs did yesterday, then it won't matter who we start.
game three in st. louis with garcia i am still counting on.
