NLDS 2

I hope AZ wins because I tend to believe that the Brewers do in fact cheat.  It helps explain their home-away splits, easily the most lopsided of any playoff team (and the only one with a losing record on the road).  Fuck the Brewers, I hope they get caught at it tonight.

home - away
57-24      39-42

Re: NLDS 2

This season's Diamondbacks has to be one of the most remarkable mid-season transformations I can think of, from the team we beat up on April, to the this one playing a tight game five in Milwaukee against the presumptive cheaters.  It would make a good print story, to tell the story of what happened.

Re: NLDS 2

The good thing about being forced to watch all this crap in Swilwaukee is I just got to see Nyjer Morgam make, what we can hope, was a career-ending ass of himself, as he interrupted a very sensible interview with Ryan Braun with a big egotistical WOO-HOO!  It was very ugly, and if you hate Morgan, worth watching.

"It helps explain their home-away splits"

Does that mean Garcia cheats at home?

Re: NLDS 2

La Russa thinks they cheat.  And they have identified at least one mechanism in the ventilation system.

Re: NLDS 2

Larussa also complains about the shadows at Busch.  And he complained about the umpire in Game 2.  And the balls not being rubbed up correctly in Cincy.  I suspect there's a purpose behind all of it, but it doesn't necessarily mean he's always right.

Re: NLDS 2

"a very sensible interview with Ryan Braun"

I didn't see the Plush Ending, but I saw a subsequent interview with Braun on MLBN. As much as he's wrecked the Cardinals over the past few years, it's impossible to dislike that guy.

"And they have identified at least one mechanism in the ventilation system."

When the Twins played in the Metrodome, they supposedly turned on a fan in the bottom half of the inning that made the ball carry further. I don't know if there's some sort of mechanical aid going on in Milwaukee, but it seemed odd the roof would be closed today on what looked like a gorgeous day.

that's what made morgan's hijcking of braun's postgame interview so eggregious.  braun is the franchise, morgan is newbie . . . not even mr. newbie.

The Brewers were supposedly using brighter advertisements on the sign boards during their at-bats and darker signs during the Cardinals' at bats

The only thing I've ever heard is LaRussa complaining about the ancillary lights.
There's kind of a funny aside to the Metrodome thing. When Tim Wakefield started pitching for the Red Sox, his record there the first couple of years was something like 6-0 with an ERA of about 1.00. It turns out the fan would make his knuckleball nearly unhittable. The Twins evenutally figured out they could hit him better if the fan was off.

I flipped over from TNT to TBS just in time to hear T-Plush yeahing "Fuck Yeah" into a live mic about 3 times.  Classy!

Re: NLDS 2

I was watching out of the corner of my eye, and it was a very sober, respectful interview with Braun, when suddenly there was a woo-hoo and Morgan jumping around and swearing like an ass.  The guy knows nothing about decorum in baseball, he should be playing 'futbol' in some tiny European country like Slovenia.

Apparently, Morgan's manager isn't thrilled with the T-Plush thing either. I read a quote with him saying he wishes he had a little bit more sway like LaRussa or Leyland so he could put a stop to T-Plush and the Beast Mode. He said it's disrespectful.
