You guessed La Russa's idea, Fors, but with different pitchers. In any event it worked, thank God.

Have I mentioned lately that I wouldn't mind a couple of runs?

The replay was priceless, as Weeks stole a glance at Motte as he walked off, like, "who the fuck was that guy?!?"

It wasn't tough to guess the concept, but I figured he'd defer to the veterans (Dotel and Rhodes). Like that he stuck with the youth. Reminds me a little of '06.

Are you kidding me? Fielder's response said it all. Looked like he just found an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet.

Hairston, Betancourt and Lucroy are batting like .900 in this series, so let's buckle down and get ready for a fun ride.

Took care of Ruth. Now here comes Gehrig.

How does Bentencourt, I'm sorry, Gehrig, take ball 1 and then swing at that pitch?

Edwin Jackson's nemesis!

Mott - the "Whirling Dervish" per the talking heads!!

Four perfect innings from the bullpen.
Outstanding. Just outstanding.

Wow.
I'll say it again. Love the reaction--or should I say non-reaction--by Motte.

The four runs in the first held up, but we better start getting some timely hits from someone other than Pujols & Freese.

Well, Gentlemen, it is unavoidable to conclude anything but that the Cardinals are now the favorites to represent the NL in the World Series this year.

Kyle Lohse against the Brewers and Jaime Garcia in a meaningful game is still enough to scare me.

In several of the games there has been at least one other guy who got hot: Theriot, Jay, etc.
Might be time to bench Holliday, start Craig, move Freese somewhere his hits will do some damage , 1, 2, or 4, would be my first choices.

Yeah, but I'll bet the Brewers' fans are a lot more scared at this point.

Have to agree with that!

I'd feel a lot better if we had "good Carpenter.". This is "I'm trying to get by without my best stuff Carpenter."
That he only gave up three runs was remarkable, since he didn't have a curveball and couldn't rely on his cutter.

Carp is really scary when he isnt right. I cant believe the Cardinals scored so early and then were shutout and that the Brewers were dealt the same.

Couple of notes. I'm not ready to kill Molina yet, but he's not producing a ton at the plate, and he seems to have a tendency to get lazy blocking balls lately. I'm hoping he'll fix that.
Holliday blew a few chances to score big "That's why you paid me" points with me.
Double Plays are starting to give me heartburn.... Seriously these guys need to learn how to hit Sac flys.... Bases Loaded with 1 out should translate into at least 1 run. I've come to expect this situation to "maybe" yield 1 run.
We must capitalize on the "scoring sitautions". Runner on second with no outs, or a runner on third with less than 2 outs. These should be runs we score 75% of the time at least. We're horrendous in this department.
A win is a win. Carp looked like shit, but he didn't have to be Cy Young, he just had to be a little better than Gallardo, and he was.

"Nice work Scrabble"
Darling wasn't kidding when he said strike three to Fielder was the biggest pitch Scrabble has thrown in his life.

Absolutely. Patting your glove once and shaking hands with the catcher is so 20th century.

The glass-is-half-full version is he battled despite not having his best stuff. But it was scary. He could have just as easily been knocked out in the third inning.
