Lohse ready to pitch on 12 days’ rest
Kyle Lohse(notes) thinks pitching on 12 days’ rest should not be a problem.
Scheduled to start Game 4 of the NL championship series for St. Louis, the right-hander hasn’t pitched since the opener of the division series in Philadelphia on Oct. 1. He couldn’t hold an early 3-0 lead in that game, giving up six runs—five earned—in 5 1-3 innings of an 11-6 loss.

Craig starting in place of Berkman

Berkman is funny.
"Yes, it hurt really bad," Berkman quipped about the seventh-inning pitch thrown by Takashi Saito. "It hurt so bad I wanted to cry. But then I thought better of it."

Any first-hand weather information? It looked like it was supposed to rain this morning but clear by the afternoon. Wind could be a factor this evening?

Very grey. Clouds moving quickly and the flags atop the scoreboard are pointing straight out to right field.
Either Prince Fielder or David Freese will hit 3 HR tonight.

David Freese has 3 HR 11RBIs .367BA 1.187OPS this post season

TY. Hoping for the latter.
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but tonight if they rough up Wolf, who's sucked lately, and turn over a 3 games-to-1 lead to Garcia pitching at home ... nah, I can't do it.
These guys shouldn't even be here. They got lucky the Braves collapsed. They got lucky the Phillies didn't take them seriously. The Brewers are going to wake up and win the next three games. Holliday's not hitting. Molina's not hitting. Freese is way over his head and he's due for a slump. The bullpen is going to revert to suckishness. Their lousy defense is going to return. LaRussa is just throwing darts at the wall blind-folded. Not that it matters anyway. If they get to the World Series, they're going to get crushed by Texas.
There. Now I feel miserable again. Which makes me incredibly happy.

I wonder if they sat the right slumping outfielder?

Weather update- clear blue skies, about 75 degrees, still windy.

Neither Berkman or Holliday's bats have been dead this post season. I hope what Holliday is doing doesnt effect his health next year. No doubt he would be on the DL if this was the regular season. I like them finding Craig some playing time. He has hit well and they need to keep him in the loop. It could be important later in this series or in the WS if they make it.

Why does Jay have to get punked just because Berkman is hitting?!?

Both are doing ok-ish if you look at BA and OBP, but they're weak in SLG and since neither has any speed they're not helping a lot at 4 and 5 in the order.

If this strike zone stays this large, nine innings will go by with these teams tied 0-0.

Fucking piece of shit Holliday. Get him on the bench. (grin)

Left handed pitchering is why Jay has been moved lower in the order. More suprising is Freese batting cleanup.

There has been alittle bitching about the strike zone but I think it has been pretty good. Low and outside pitches are getting called strikes but if you dont give these two pitchers those calls then it is going to be a slugfest or a walk fest.
Loshe is gooding ppretty good. Alot of that has to do with the Brewers not trying to jump on him. He has left some pitches in the middle of the strike zone and for the most part the Brewers have watch them go by. This is a typical Loshe start. It could blow up at any time.

Drop Molina to eighth already.

Get the bullpen going, Tone. Lohse is getting ripped.

It's shocking -- SHOCKING -- that the Brewers are tagging Lohse.

Over/under runs Lohse allows here in the top of the fifth: 4

Oh yeah, I'm taking the under just because I don't think La Russa will let him pitch past Fielder.

If the Cardinals somehow advance to the World Series, they should get the bullpen going early when Lohse takes the mound. At the first sign of a crooked inning, La Russa would have to pull him. He's essentially a three-inning pitcher at this point.

I had very low expectations for Lohse tonight and yet somehow he still disappointed.
I really hope they can somehow parlay his decent regular season into convincing someone to take him this off-season. I know we'll have to pick up some of his salary, but I'd prefer he pitch elsewhere next year.
