NLCS MVP

Now I don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but . . .

When the booth made the comment last night that the bullpen, collectively, desserved the award, . . . I mean, uh, assuming the Cards win this thing . . . , they may have begun a meme.  I doubt that they bend the intent of the award enough to make that come true, but they just might give it to the biggest standout from the bullpen, and I think at this point it would be Motte.

Re: NLCS MVP

Motte has been awesome but so has Salas and Lynn.  The double play that Lynn got Weeks to hit into in game 2 was the turning point in the series.  If they piece together a few runs in that inning the Cardinals might have been heading to St. louis down two games.

Re: NLCS MVP

Well, I think that's the point, that "the bullpen" deserves the award.  But you can't give it to "the bullpen".  So if you had to pick one guy out of the bullpen, I think it would be Motte.

Re: NLCS MVP

Give Moz a little credit for that one too. Freese for Edmonds looks pretty good right now.

Re: NLCS MVP

Hmm . . . I'm wondering how much credit anyone deserves for that, and if it's Moz.

Re: NLCS MVP

Freese had the best LCS since Lou Gehrig in 1928. He was the MVP, hands down. Remember the dread we felt when Carlos Beltran came up in the '04 NLCS? Yeah, well imagine how Milwaukee felt when Freese had a hit every other at-bat, and either doubled or homered every three at bats. What an incredible series he had.

I owe him a big mea culpa. I thought he was overrated when the Cardinals acquired him. I thought he was overrated going into 2010 and I thought he was overrated heading into this season. But damn if he didn't produce when he got the opportunity. He had one lousy month all season. One!

Oh yeah, all the fans who doubted Holliday should also line up and apologize.

Re: NLCS MVP

"Speaking of DeWitt, anyone notice that the trophy was causing him some distress last night."

Definitely. It was like he was looking around for someone to take it off his hands. "I'm the boss. How long do I have to hold this @#$%^& thing?!?"
