Like I said TLR never really planned on winning this game.

It will not be remembered as such, but we just saw the most dominating 3 H, 7 BB, 5.1 inning appearance by a starting pitcher in World Series history.

Is it just me or is Joe Buck the best play by play guy on TV. He doesnt try to act like he has played the game and doesnt make it about himself. To me he is just great to listen to.
Not just you.

Here comes Boggs. I feel like this whole game has been a white flag being raised. I think they hope to keep the pen from being burnt to bad and want to take their chances with winning tomorrow night with Carp on the mound. Heading back to St. Louis up 3-2 needing to split at home to win wouldnt be to bad.
It's funny, AP, but I told my family as much before the game. Count on a loss today, a win tomorrow, and we wrap this up in St. Louis in Game 6.

Simple fact of this series was/is that Cards can't win it without winning both of Carp's starts. They win tomorrow, they go back 3-2 and in good shape headed home.
Worst case, it's a 3 game series, Cards have home field advantage and Carp pitching game 1. That's not an awful place to be.

Think they planned on being 2 hit by Derek Holland?

How successful has Derek Holland been tonight?
About as successful as any guy would be if pitches 8 inches off the inside of the plate were called strike threes again and again.

No, I think they expected Jackson to allow 5 runs trying to get threw 5 innings. Westbrook would have been the first call had Jackson not been able to pitch around a mess every inning.
I was over stating myself to say they planned on losing. However I think TLR knows it isnt to his advantage to play like tonight is the last game of the series.

In all fairness, Holland's a pretty good pitcher. As they just said, he won 16 games and was second to Cliff Lee with 4 shutouts. You don't get those numbers by accident.

Now to Molina, anything above his shoestrings is a strike. This is bullshit.

Fairness. He was good during the regular season; how does that make the called strikes on Holliday that were grazing his nads, and the called strikes on Molina that kiled a row of ants above the plate fair???

We've hit one ball out of the infield that wasn't a hit. That's not all on the umpire. The kid's throwing 95 with a filthy curveball.
Those two ball/strike calls are about as relevant as yesterday's call on Holliday at first.

No, not really.

I'll fill in for alz and make the statement that there is absolutely no way the Cardinals can win this game.

You're missing steps. Alz would also point out there's no way they can recover from this loss and the series is over.

I figured I'd wait for him to do that. He makes the argument so much better than I can.

I'm with Web. MLB wins big if the Cards lose tonight.
In fact, I had almost lost my memories of '04, and why the Cards were blown out so badly, and then I remembered the strike zone that grew for red sox pitchers and shrank for cardinals pitchers. edmonds complained bitterly. la russa came out of the dug out and yelled, 'give us a chance.' we had ZERO chance in '04, with the prospects of the red sox breaking their curse, and VERY LITTLE chance tonight with the way the strike zone has been called. seriously fors, the first stroke out of holliday was fucking absurd, and that set the timbre for the game.

ONLY TK can do this justice. This series was OHHHH_VERRR when we let game 2 slip away.

Bullshit. It was one at bat in a game in which the kid was otherwise unhittable. Sometimes you have to man up and admit the other guy was simply better. Tonight was one of those nights.

Good point. But I was watching closely on that last at bat and I saw fear in his eyes. And why the hell not after the weird called strikes tonight??? What the fuck was he supposed to do? I'd be scared too.
