OK, let's break this down ...
Say Georgia beats LSU. Does LSU still qualify as for the BCS championship game? Which 1-loss team is better? Alabama, which LSU beat, in Alabama, and didn't even get to the SEC championship game?
Oklahoma State? Maybe. But there's no guarantee OSU is going to beat Oklahoma this weekend.
Stanford? Not even in the Pac 12 title game. Which is a joke. Oregon is a ... get this ... 31 1/2-point favorite over UCLA (which BTW got bombed 50-0, by Southern Cal last week) in a conference championship game.
Va Tech? Has the ACC impressed anyone this year? The ACC's n/c record against top 25 opponents is 2-6. Next.
Undefeated Houston? Please. Boise State? Really?
And while we're at it, isn't it time to revoke the Big East's automatic BCS berth?

Yes, they will. Wins over Oregon, Alabama and Arkansas make for a good resume.

LSU. Alabama's most impressive win has been over Arkansas, overrated in their own right, but still a very good team. Their next best win is over 9-3 Penn State, who (I think) have zero wins over winning teams.
Alabama feasted on FCS and some weak sisters in the SEC.

If they do win, they would be my pick.

I don't think either team will make the jump. Had the Ducks not lost to USC I think they'd be in line.

They have wins at Ga. Tech and at Virginia. But splitting with Clemson (which is what would need to happen this weekend) would not be more impressive than some of the other resumes.
Boise State? Really?
Boise throttled Georgia by two touchdowns and lost to TCU because of a botched snap. I think they would give any of the possible contenders a very tough game, but they just don't deserve a spot. It's an injustice.

We should just relegate this conference to FCS status in football.

Agreed tk, Oregon hosed themselves losing to USC, from any part of the discussion. Alabama will likely be in, unless Oklahoma State can get enough weight by beating Oklahoma and then winning the conference championship game. LSU however can probably field their cheerleaders and lose to Georgia and still have the pedigree to keep #1.
So that's really the only three teams who have even a prayer of making it, and barring a miracle, LSU and Bama will be the title game, while (3) Oklahoma State will be playing (4) Stanford.

No Big XII championship game this year. NCAA rules require a conference to have 12 teams to have a conference championship and the Big XII - II only has 10 teams.
IMO, Oklahoma State would have to make a huge statement this weekend to jump over Alabama. LSU is in regardless based on their 3 wins over teams ranked #3 or higher.

OSU will have a tough time making the leap. I don't think the BCS weighs point differential anymore and there's no way the media will pass up a chance to give us LSU-Alabama II with their polls. It's going to happen regardless of what happens in Atlanta and Norman.

That just makes it more impossible I'd forgotten they were down to 10 teams. I'm not sure how bad Oklahoma State has to win to jump idle Alabama, but that doesn't look promising at all.

It doesn't. LSU would have been as well off beating Mississippi by one point as it did by beating them by 49. This goes back to the days when Notre Dame would get a bounce in the polls from its scout team rolling up three touchdowns in the fourth quarter of a 70-0 rout of Navy.

Someone presented the situation to me that what in the hell happens if LSU loses. The reasoning is that he (actually we, though it's never presented itself before) was that you could take a maximum 2 BCS slots (1 for your major conference bowl, and 1 for the BCS title game if a top 2 ranked team). The truth is, that number is 3 (both participants of the title game do not count against the BCS bowls, and the SEC will have a rep there too), but that presents another obstacle.
What happens if Georgia loses badly to LSU? Who gets the Sugar Bowl? Does Georgia get it on the grounds that they played in the SEC title game, or does that go back to rankings, where Arkansas (should they finish ahead of Georgia) gets to attend?

It would probably go to Arkansas. Right now CBS is projecting Arkansas to play K-State in the Cotton Bowl, but Arkansas already played in Dallas against aTm. I think we'll see Arkansas-Michigan State.
