Right; we learned that with The Tuck.
Post of the year, decade, century, millennium ... any millennium.
Thanks. Sometimes they just write themselves. I was so eager to post that one I messed up the quotation.

The difference being Welker is acting like a stand-up guy who won't hide when things go sour. I can't tell you guys how much Welker is getting killed by the Boston media today. It's like he's the second coming of Bill Buckner.
You've gotta be living for days like this, Artie.

I've had to keep a lot to myself, so posting my glee on the board is a good outlet.
Today at work has been quiet. Our wire editor and I get along really well except when it comes to matters having to do with the NFL. I think if I had taunted him this morning he would have erupted like a volcano. He's probably also a little annoyed I won the Super Bowl squares pool we have at work and pocketed a couple of bucks.
I watched the game in a room full of Patriots' fans last night, and managed to avoid being overly obnoxious. My wife kind of helped ease the tension during the most critical moments. Of course, her primary interest was financial, so when there was about four minutes to go and I needed the Giants to score a TD but not make the extra point(s), she started paying attention. She broke up the room when she asked "How much do *we* win if the Jets score?"

And so far Belichick is practically getting a free pass for the too-many-men-on-the-field penalty before the Giants' first touchdown. Did the "greatest coach of the modern era" forget how to count?
Speaking of "too many men," I heard a lot of complaining how unfair it was that the clock wasn't reset after the Giants too-many-men" on the last drive. Sort of funny listening to the fan base who benefited from the Tuck now complaining that the NFL's rules are horribly unfair.

You're a much better person that I am. I'd have come into work wearing an Eli Manning jersey.
We have two KU fans in our department of 8 attorneys. Within minutes of the conclusion of Saturday night's game there had to have been 30 emails circulated throughout our department and Sunday morning, both KU fans learned that they had been signed up for the free online Mizzou newsletter and received a celebratory email from Coach Frank Haith.
Gee, I wonder who signed them up for the newsletter?

With the kicker the Giants sent out too many men because they knew it would be to their advantage. I'm fairly certain Tom Coughlin isn't that smart, but if it upsets these yahoos, then let them believe it. There's no amount of misery these people can feel in one day equal to what Patriots' fans have heaped upon me for past 10 years.
Yup. Bitter, that's me, with a side of anger.

That's the kind of prank that goes way, waaaay over the line of decency and good taste, and I'm really disappointed I didn't think of it.

Today's indignation has focused on Gronkowski. Apparently, Einstein Jr. went to a post-game party, took his shirt off and started dancing. Which does two things - helps negate the argument that New England would have won the game if his ankle had been 100 percent, and means to them they care more about what happens to the team than one of the players.
Yes, I'm loving every single second of this.

I hate to see Welker dragged through the mud over that play. Buckner blundered a pretty easy play, but Welker's wasn't a ball I could have caught. Not running full tilt downfield, and trying to spin to my outside shoulder and leap.... Course, fans don't give a shit, they want someone to hang....
Buffalo still despises Scott Norwood. Apparently missing 4/5 from 40+ yards on grass during the season meant that a 47 yarder on grass with the Super Bowl on the line was a gimme.

Isnt Welker a free agent? He is coming off a career year. You would think they would show him some love.

It was a mediocre throw, but Brady's ball washers won't criticize him, so it has to be Welker's fault. I still haven't heard word one of criticism of Belichick or the coaching staff for having 12 men on the field when Cruz fumbled.
There was a post from one of my Facebook friends calling Belichick "classy" for sucking up to the crowd when the Patriots stepped off the bus yesterday. That's a term I've never heard or seen in connection with Belichick anyway, but people with class don't cut players the day before the Super Bowl. This woman is an idiot who knows nothing about football, so responding would have been pointless.

They should have sent out 20 players. I never thought of he penalty like that but why not put a extra people on the field, conceed to the penalty and avoid the hall mary. It isnt sportsman like but how can te Patriots complain about sportsmanship?

One of the Boston sports radio talk show dopes suggested he would be willing to take a pay cut to stay with New England.
I can just imagine how that negotiation would go ...
"Hey Wes, we know you're coming off a 1,500-yard season. We know you've lead the league in receptions three of the five years you've been here. We know you busted your butt to come back from major knee surgery. You're the guy we put back there to return punts in key situations because you've got the best hands on the team and almost never fumble. But we can't blame Brady for the pass you didn't catch in the Super Bowl. You're going to have to take a pay cut, fella."

He's the poster child for their four Super Bowl losses in a row. I don't know how Buffalonians work out how Scott Norwood missing a field goal against the Giants is somehow responsible for the Bills getting killed 52-17 by the Cowboys two years later, but they seem to be able to make the connection.

Gi's tirade after the game has resulted in Yoko references. And at least one wag pointed out that Bridget Moynihan never criticized Tom's teammates.

I enjoy seeing that New England is now tied for most Super Bowl losses. If today's rules had applied in 2001, the Rams would've slaughtered them. Of course, if logic had prevailed, the Patriots wouldn't even have been there in the first place. At any rate, their misfortune is being enjoyed.

The masses have gone from depression to indignation to contemplation pretty quickly. The mantra has become all the *dropped* passes are going to impact Brady in comparisons to Montana for the "best QB of all-time" mantle.
Are I correct in assuming this is the only part of the country where this discussion could take place?

The comments are even funnier than the column.

Sigh... This ain't right.
I feel for Welker, he's really taking a massive amount of punishment for dropping a "not good bordering on bad" pass.

Am I mistaken or is Welker really a pretty decent guy?
