Lynn was rough in that second inning.

Tyler Greene: still not a major leaguer.

Larussa's in the stadium. Greene could feel his presence.

Watching Castro play defense makes me appreciate Furcal.
ETA- Naturally, I Windy'd Furcal. Not getting that double play has completely changed the complexion of this inning/game.

Bad play by Furcal, but Lynn walking DeJesus set this incoming disaster up.

Terrific job by Romero. Shouldn't be into the bullpen yet, but that was huge.
LMAO at the Cubs. Nice play on the foul pop.

Wow they are absolutely jobbing us. Ridiculous call on the "foul tip."

Universe back in alignment; Cardinals beat Cubs.

Win tomorrow and I am good with this series.

It appears that Mitch Boggs will be a much greater piece of the post-Larussa Cardinals than he has been. Honestly, I thought they might move him this off-season. Looks good that they didn't.
Not to pick an old scab, but anyone missing our old centerfielder?

Not really, but the Mulder trade was still a mistake.

Nah. He's good, but if he's the ace, then it means Jake Westbrook and Paul Maholm are pitching for the Cardinals.
Obligatory, because Fors was asking if the Cubs were trotting out their trophies yesterday:

I hate to jinx the guy... but does anyone share my belief that within a couple of years Lance Lynn is going to be the ace of this staff?
I don't know if he'll be the ace, but I think Lynn has about as much upside as Garcia. I'm not sure if either are top of the rotation guys, but if either is your #3, your staff is pretty good and if Garcia and Lynn are your #3 & #4, you're in real good shape.
Tough to say the Carpenter injury was a good thing, but if there's a silver lining, it may be finding out that Lynn belongs in the rotation.
BTW- thanks Tk. Good to see what they're celebrating in Wrigleyville these days.

I wish I could find a photo of Ted Lilly slamming his glove to the ground during that playoff game in Arizona a few years ago. That episode sort of sums up the last 103 years.

"if Garcia and Lynn are your #3 & #4, you're in real good shape."
Presuming Miller is up in 2014, that means you're getting a bargain on 60 percent of your rotation. Maybe that'll leave them enough money to swing a trade for Pujols after he washes out with the Angels.

Their Cactus League run was amazing that year.
Anyone remember the year Mark Prior won the Simulated Game Cy Young?

Rec.
Prior's delivery is so clinical, he might be able to pitch for 20 years without arm problems.
