You're not going to believe this, but about five minutes ago he rolled over on an outside pitch and grounded out to shortstop.

There's no one left here who will make me pay the eternal price for this admission, but having Dan Haren in the Cardinals' rotation for the past seven years probably would have been a good thing.

The Angels 1st baseman is 1 for 3 so far tonight, raising his average to .273.

He promptly got himself thrown out trying to go 1st-to-3rd on a single.

I feel bad for rooting for Pujols to fail after 10 years of being a huge fan.  I just cant help it.

He fininshed 1-for-4. Popped out to short in the ninth.

Oh, I'm not rooting against Pujols specifically. I'm rooting against the entire Angels' team (which is now in last place in the AL West, BTW ...)

Re: Former Cardinals' player goes deep in Anaheim

I find myself laughing now when he rolles over in to a double play or runs into outs.  A year ago I would have defended to running.  His GIDP always annoyed the hell out of me.  He has barely done anything and what he has done he has wiped out by GIDP and poor baserunning.

Re: Former Cardinals' player goes deep in Anaheim

I don't feel bad about it one bit. I'm trying to remember anyone who left a city that wanted to keep him and tried to retain him, and the city remembered him fondly... Lebron overshadows any of the good ones.

I heard a lot of people are modifying their Pujols jerseys. My idea was to tape |'s through the S in pujols and the number 5. Giving the impression of
Pujol$
   $

The funniest one I heard about was somone taking duck tape and writing "GANT" over the top of Pujols name. Although a buddy sent me an image that was hilarious.
It read "A JOLS", and the A was the Anaheim Angel Logo "A". Looked pretty classic.

Anyway, I expect any power hitter to have a higher GIDP, they almost always have more runners on base in front of them, and hit the ball so damned hard that any grounder is going to result in 2 outs. Also with Pujols speed, gimping around on those bad feet of his... He gives you more time to make the play. The baserunning bullshit though, how many times did you watch Pujols run through Oquendo's stop sign? Do that once as anyone not named Albert Pujols, and you're benched. I probably watched Pujol$ pull that shit 20 times.

Re: Former Cardinals' player goes deep in Anaheim

Pujols is the youngest player on the GIDP list, htting into 234 at the age of 32(ranked 44).  No other active player is going to add many more to their total because of their age.  Pujols needs 117 to surpass Ripkin the career leader at 350.  That should take him 4-6 seasons.  I wonder what kind of bonus he will get for that historic mark.
